Zhu ‘Blackjack’ Guozhi is a Chinese general in the Asia-Pacific Alliance who specialises in covert operations and information warfare.

Born on the heavily industrialised outskirts of Shenzhen, Guozhi’s childhood is deliberately described as ordinary, with no notable events known to the public.

Destined for a military career from a very young age, he enrolled at the APA Military Academy, from which he graduated with the highest honours.

His achievements quickly attracted the attention of Chinese military intelligence, which recruited him and trained him in the techniques of espionage, disinformation and deception on the battlefield.

For over a decade, Zhu waged a veritable shadow war, becoming in equal measure a Spy and a Soldier.

In particular, he earned a formidable reputation during clashes with the GLA, an organisation itself highly skilled in guerrilla warfare and asymmetric tactics.

Blackjack turns the organisation’s own methods against it by spreading false information and using satellite-projected holographic armies to lure its forces into deadly Sleeper Ambushes.

However, these years spent in espionage have left a deep mark on his personality: Zhu has become wary of strangers and rarely reveals more information than is necessary.

His military doctrine is based on the same principle:to weaken and disrupt the enemy from the shadows before deploying his conventional forces.

His Fireflies and Saboteurs can thus infiltrate enemy bases undetected to wreak havoc, whilst his Shadow Tanks eliminate high-priority targets.

His arsenal was also set to include Urban Assault Teams, Lynx, Gatling Tanks and Dragon Tanks, Mantis and Thunderfists, as well as the heroic unit Yu Hyun Jung.

His signature ability, Misdirection, perfectly encapsulates his philosophy: to deceive the enemy, manipulate their intelligence and make them react exactly as he had planned.

Zhu ‘Blackjack’ Guozhi was thus intended to embody the APA’s covert warfare: a Mastermind of disinformation who prefers to defeat his opponent before they even realise they have been deceived.
