Dr Thrax
Character: ??
Affiliation: Global Liberation Army (GLA)*Rank:* General*Specialism:* Chemical and biological weapons*Real identity:* Unknown Dr Thrax is a scientist and GLA General specialising in the design and use of chemical and biological weapons.
Trained as an immunologist in Jordan, he disappeared in 1995 in a Cairo neighbourhood controlled by the GLA. He then began producing biological agents for various terrorist organisations, before becoming one of the GLA’s main suppliers and subsequently one of its leaders.
Extremely cautious, Thrax regularly changes his place of residence and is even said to have undergone cosmetic surgery to conceal his identity. He also runs several clandestine laboratories across the Middle East and Asia.
His most formidable invention is Anthrax Gamma, a particularly virulent strain developed for the GLA’s arsenal. This expertise in toxins gradually earned him a prominent position within the organisation.
Having risen to the rank of General, Thrax applies his research across his entire army. His Rebels, Terrorists, RPGs, Scorpion Tanks, Stinger sites and Tunnel Networks thus utilise various forms of toxic weapons.
His troops have access to Anthrax Beta from the start of operations and can subsequently gain access to Anthrax Gamma. On the other hand, some of his units are more expensive and his stealth capabilities are more limited than those of the other GLA generals.
During the events of Command & Conquer: Generals – Zero Hour, the United States discovers that Thrax is preparing a large-scale attack using missiles loaded with Anthrax Gamma.
A US offensive is launched against his complex before the missiles can be fired. The facility is eventually neutralised, dealing a major blow to the GLA’s biological weapons programme.
The exact fate of Dr Thrax, however, remains uncertain.
