General Shin Fai, nicknamed ‘Anvil’, is an officer in the People’s Liberation Army who specialises in the large-scale and methodical deployment of infantry.

Convinced that China’s greatest military asset lies in its millions of Soldiers, he has built his entire career around their mobilisation, training and discipline.

Thanks to a particularly efficient – and at times brutal – chain of command, Fai is capable of mobilising four divisions in just twenty-four hours.

He also developed advanced training programmes for Red Guards and elite operatives, transforming his infantrymen into highly experienced troops.

His methods proved their worth during the 2009 Taiwan conflict: the speed and professionalism of his peacekeeping forces are said to have helped prevent the crisis from escalating into a world war.

Aged 57, Fai is the commander at Camp Snake in Beijing and has several units specially tailored to his doctrine.

His forces notably deploy Mini-Gunners, capable of engaging both ground troops and aircraft, as well as Super Hackers specialising in electronic warfare.

He also has Super Lotus vehicles, assault outposts, reinforced troop transports,Assault Helix vehicles and fortified bunkers capable of housing more Soldiers.

This specialisation, however, comes at a price: Fai forgoes the main Chinese tanks, notably the Battlemaster, Gatling Tank and Overlord, and therefore relies heavily on his infantry and support vehicles.

His doctrine is thus based on a simple idea: gradually overwhelming the enemy with waves of disciplined, experienced Soldiers capable of absorbing considerable losses.

‘Anvil’ Shin Fai embodies Chinese mass warfare: a slow but relentless army, advancing like an anvil methodically crushing everything in its path.
