Status: Deceased in the Soviet campaign.Nadia Zelenkov is one of Joseph Stalin’s closest associates during the war against the Allied Forces. Cold, calculating and extremely ambitious, she wields considerable influence at the highest echelons of Soviet power and also maintains an intimate relationship with Stalin.
In particular, she acts as head of intelligence and closely monitors the performance of the Red Army’s senior commanders.
Nadia is particularly critical of Marshal Radik Gradenko, whose competence she regularly questions, reporting his mistakes directly to Stalin.
When Gradenko finally becomes too much of a hindrance, she eliminates him herself by poisoning his tea, paving the way for Georgi Kukov to rise through the Soviet hierarchy.
Her closeness to Stalin does not, however, mean that she is truly loyal to him.
Nadia secretly belongs to the Brotherhood of Nod and operates at the very heart of the Soviet regime to serve Kane’s interests (Nod had infiltrated the Soviet Union, and Nadia and Kane may have helped steer Stalin towards his expansionist campaign in Europe).
This revelation comes to light at the end of the Soviet campaign in Red Alert.
Following the Red Army’s total victory, Stalin celebrates the conquest of London at Buckingham Palace. Nadia then serves him a poisoned drink and assassinates the Soviet leader.
She subsequently reveals to the Soviet Commander that the war and the USSR’s victory were merely one stage in a much larger plan linked to the Brotherhood of Nod.
But Nadia does not enjoy her triumph for long.
Kane appears behind her and shoots her in the back, before appointing the Soviet Commander as the new leader and announcing that he himself represents the future.
This scene constitutes one of the most direct links between the first Red Alert and the Tiberium universe: in this branch of the story, Nod was already active behind the scenes long before the arrival of Tiberium, with Kane and Nadia infiltrating the upper echelons of the Soviet Union.
However, it is important to note one key distinction: this revelation is part of the Soviet campaign in Red Alert, the events of which may contradict those of the Allied campaign.
