A veritable Colossus specialising in heavy weapons, he brings considerable firepower to the group thanks to his rocket launcher. Before joining this elite unit, Grant had a difficult upbringing in south London and went on to serve in the British Special Forces.

From the streets of London to the special forces

Grant hails from a particularly rough neighbourhood in South London. During his youth, he led a turbulent life and is described as a former punk before turning to a military career.

He eventually joined the Special Boat Service (SBS), a British special forces unit specialising in particular in maritime operations. His experience led him to take part in various operations in conflict zones across South-East Asia.

His skills subsequently caught the attention of the GDI, to which he was seconded via the SBS.

The Dead-6

Gunner joins the Dead-6, a commando unit comprising some of the GDI’s most dangerous fighters.

His role is that of a heavy weapons specialist. Standing 2.01 metres tall and weighing 124 kilos, Grant has a particularly imposing physique and primarily uses a rocket launcher, making him a formidable threat against vehicles and fortified positions.

He fights alongside Nick ‘Havoc’ Parker, Shai ‘Hotwire’ Aviv, Dariel ‘Deadeye’ MacInnis and Erich ‘Patch’ Wulfe.

First Tiberium War

During the war against the Brotherhood of Nod, Gunner and the other members of Dead-6 took part in various covert operations.

In particular, he was reunited with Havoc during the events of Renegade. Gunner then brought his firepower to bear in operations against Nod and fought alongside his former comrades.

His equipment is perfectly suited to his role within the team: whilst Deadeye specialises in precision shooting and Hotwire in Tech Support, Gunner is responsible for providing the heavy firepower needed to take down the toughest targets.

Personality and role

Nigel Grant is primarily portrayed as a massive, experienced fighter specialising in direct action. His past on the streets of London and subsequently with the SBS explains his profile as a hardened Soldier.

His nickname, ‘Gunner’, perfectly sums up his speciality: when an operation requires more firepower than a conventional rifle can provide, Grant is the man in the Dead-6 tasked with sorting out the problem.
