Status: Alive at the end of the war.Dr Emel Ibrahiim is a scientist working for FutureTech on special projects for the GDI. A Tiberium specialist, she heads up research at the Munich laboratory and plays a key role in analysing alien technologies following the arrival of the Scrin in 2047.
The Munich laboratory
Before the alien invasion, Ibrahiim held the post of Head of Research at the FutureTech laboratory in Munich. She was involved in various special programmes carried out on behalf of the GDI and became a recognised expert on Tiberium.
When the Scrin attacked Munich, the scientific complex came under direct threat. The GDI then organised the evacuation of scientists and essential staff.
Ibrahiim managed to leave the facility and survived the alien offensive.
Following her evacuation, Ibrahiim takes part in the study of the gigantic Threshold Towers that the Scrin are constructing in various locations across the planet.
She appears notably on W3N, where she is interviewed by the journalist William Frank about these structures. At this stage, the GDI’s knowledge of the Scrin remains extremely limited, and Ibrahiim can only speculate on the true function of the Towers.
Her research nevertheless becomes vital to understanding the invader fighters’ strategy.
The Scrin Control Node
Towards the end of the war, the work led by Ibrahiim leads to a crucial discovery.
His team determines that a Control Node located near Ground Zero supplies the Scrin forces with a vital form of Tiberium-based radiation. The destruction of this facility could therefore disrupt their entire army on Earth.
The GDI then launches an offensive against Ground Zero.
The destruction of the Node effectively deprives the alien forces of this energy and enables the GDI to neutralise the invasion. Ibrahiim’s research thus contributes directly to identifying the Scrin’s strategic weak point.
Role
Emel Ibrahiim exemplifies the importance of scientific research in the war against the Scrin. Unlike the GDI’s senior military leaders, she does not intervene directly on the battlefield: her role is to understand Tiberium and alien technologies in order to provide commanders with the information needed to combat them.
Her work has, in particular, enabled the transition from initial speculation about the Threshold Towers to the identification of the Control Node on which a vital part of the invading forces depends.
