Status: Alive at the end of known events.Sydney Mobius is a GDI scientist and the daughter of the renowned Tiberium specialist Ignatio Mobius. Extremely intelligent and particularly gifted in computing, she obtained her PhD before the age of thirty. Initially known for her difficult temperament, she underwent a profound change after being confronted with Nod’s genetic experiments on human subjects.
A brilliant scientist
Sydney pursues a scientific career comparable to that of her father. Her expertise includes, in particular, computer science and the study of Tiberium-related technologies.
She also plays a part in the design of the Mobius armour, a combat suit offering significant protection in hazardous environments.
However, her contact with the victims of Nod’s experiments transforms her perception of Tiberium. Aware of its destructive potential, Sydney decides that this power can also be turned against those who exploit it, particularly the Brotherhood of Nod.
Prisoner of the ReGenesis project
During the First Tiberium War, Sydney is captured in Guatemala along with her father and Dr Elena Petrova.
The Black Hand forces the scientists to work on ReGenesis, a programme designed to exploit the mutations caused by Tiberium in order to create genetically enhanced fighters. Sydney and her father are subsequently moved between several Nod facilities.
Captain Nick ‘Havoc’ Parker eventually reaches the castle used by the Black Hand and frees Sydney. Separated from her father, she is escorted out of the complex and is nearly killed by mercenaries before Havoc saves her once again.
Alongside Havoc
Once safe, Sydney refuses to abandon her father.
She asks General Adam Locke for permission to accompany Havoc in search of Mobius. Despite the Commando’s objections, Locke agrees and Sydney joins the operation straight away.
This freedom is short-lived. Shortly after they set off,Nod stealth soldiers abduct Sydney and take her to Cairo. This time, she is no longer destined to work on ReGenesis: she herself is to become a test subject for the programme’s final phase.
The final phase of ReGenesis
Nod plans to use Sydney to carry out a transformation presented as a form of ‘deification’ through Tiberium.
Havoc pursues those responsible to the Nod complex and intervenes before the programme can achieve its objective. He finally manages to free Sydney and her father, putting an end to their captivity.
Sydney therefore survives the events of Renegade. Her subsequent journey is not precisely documented.
Personality
Sydney is described as brilliant, determined and possessing a particularly strong character. Her intelligence enables her to obtain a PhD at a very young age and to participate in advanced technological projects.
Her experience with ReGenesis also reveals her courage. After being imprisoned and discovering the atrocities committed by Nod, she voluntarily chooses to set off again with Havoc rather than remain in safety, primarily to find her father.
