Status: Non-canonical character from Generals 2
‘Salvo’ Agembe is a European Union general specialising in Artillery and long-range siege operations.
Born in a small, war-torn village in Sudan, Agembe was orphaned at the age of just four and forced to serve as a child Soldier.
Despite his very young age, he quickly demonstrated astonishing combat skills. At the age of eight, however, the accumulated trauma caused him to suffer a psychological breakdown, and his companions abandoned him.
Starving and left to fend for himself, the child was discovered by a European peacekeeping force passing through the region.
The Commander of this unit took him under his wing, brought him back to Europe and eventually adopted him as his own son.
Agembe adapted remarkably quickly to his new life and excelled both in his studies and, later, during his military career.
His childhood, however, left him with a deep awareness of the human cost of war, whilst his natural tactical intelligence made him a particularly effective Officer.
In 2020, Agembe led an operation against the last remaining GLA forces holed up in the mountains of Afghanistan.
Rather than sending his men into costly assaults, he employed tactical Artillery strikes to methodically dislodge the GLA fighters from their positions.
This victory convinced the European Union to entrust him with the creation and command of a specialised Artillery division.
Nicknamed ‘Salvo’, he then developed a doctrine of keeping the enemy under constant bombardment until their defences were exhausted.
Its signature weapon is the Trident, an Artillery rocket launcher capable of pounding enemy positions from a great distance, supplemented by howitzers to defend its bases.
His strategy thus resembles that of a mobile fortress: methodically weakening the enemy from a safe distance, then only committing his conventional forces to deliver the final blow.
Agembe was also to have access to the Suppressing Fire support ability, further reinforcing his specialisation in bombardment and long-range suppression.
Finally, several unfinished storyboards show that he was to play a significant role in the European campaign of Generals 2.
‘Salvo’ Agembe was thus intended to embody a paradoxical approach to war: a former child soldier who had become a master of Artillery, using distance and firepower to win his battles without needlessly sacrificing his men.
