Status: Alive.Brenda Snow is a journalist with Channel 3 News who appears in Red Alert 3: Uprising. Usually specialising in celebrities and sensational figures, she covers social events and produces profiles of well-known personalities. This leads her to interview celebrities such as Rupert Thornley.

Her role in Uprising is primarily linked to Yuriko Omega, on whom she produces several reports tracing her mysterious past.

The investigation into Yuriko Omega

After the Third World War, Yuriko became one of the most feared and mysterious figures on the planet. Allied soldiers claim to have seen the young Japanese woman wipe out entire military units using nothing but her psychic powers.

Brenda then produces a special report dedicated to her story. In particular, she seeks to determine who Yuriko really is, where she comes from and how she acquired her extraordinary psionic abilities.

Her investigation reveals that, according to some sources, Yuriko Omega’s real name is Yuriko Matsui and she was born in the small coastal town of Tanabe, in Japan. Her powers are said to have first appeared during her childhood, a period in which she is reported to have levitated a cat using psychokinesis.

The Shiro Sanatorium

Brenda also explains that Yuriko’s abilities caught the attention of the imperial authorities.

The young girl was eventually transferred to the Shiro Psychic Research Centre, headed by Dr Shinji Shimada. Exactly what happened there remained shrouded in mystery for a long time, but the experiments and training Yuriko was subjected to transformed her profoundly.

These reports serve as a direct introduction to Yuriko’s campaign in Uprising. They allow the player to gradually uncover her past before reliving her imprisonment at the sanatorium and her transformation into Yuriko Omega.

The Guam Incident

Brenda also covers the events surrounding Yuriko’s escape following her imprisonment by the Allies.

The affair becomes particularly sensitive when the circumstances surrounding the Guam incident are covered up by the Allied military authorities. Yuriko then escapes her captors’ control and continues on her way, whilst Brenda investigates the grey areas surrounding the case.

Her role thus serves to show that the activities concerning Yuriko are not merely a military affair: they are also beginning to attract media attention.

An entertainment journalist tackling a military affair

Brenda is not a traditional war correspondent. Her speciality remains, above all, celebrity news, red carpets and biographies of sensational figures.

This is precisely what sets her coverage of Yuriko apart. Yuriko is no longer presented merely as a secret military unit of the former Empire: she is becoming a mysterious figure whose story the public is eager to uncover.

Brenda thus transforms the legend surrounding ‘Yuriko Omega’ into an investigation into the young woman who existed before the Omega programme.
