General Danko is a dissident GLA Officer who was due to play a role in the story of Command & Conquer: Generals 2.
An authoritarian and particularly ruthless Commander, he regularly travels aboard his personal helicopter, accompanied by GLA fighters.
Danko comes into conflict with Jarmen Kell when the latter decides to cooperate with the European General Pierre Legrand.
Viewing this alliance as a betrayal of the GLA’s principles, Danko accuses Kell of having abandoned the organisation’s cause and resolves to eliminate him.
During the events of ‘The Dam’, he betrays Jarmen Kell by personally detonating the explosives the sniper had planted, causing his apparent death.
Danko then turns Kell into a GLA martyr, using his disappearance as a propaganda tool to rally the fighters under his own command.
His brutality is also evident in ‘ Execution”, when an officer from the Asia-Pacific Alliance surrenders with his men and attempts to negotiate their survival.
Danko rejects his offer, personally shoots the officer, then orders the execution of his Soldiers.
When the prisoners attempt to flee into a neighbouring building, Danko blows up the building before returning to his helicopter.
Jarmen Kell, however, survived his betrayal and later reappears to seek revenge.
After his helicopter crashes, Danko – wounded and abandoned by his own Soldiers – attempts to take his own life.
Kell intervenes before he can fire, blasting off his right arm with a single shot, then shoots him dead, putting a definitive end to their rivalry.
Danko was thus intended to embody a particularly dark facet of the GLA: a brutal, fanatical and opportunistic leader, prepared to eliminate both his enemies and his own allies in order to assert his authority.
