Status: Unknown after the war.Sandra Telfair is a GDI lieutenant attached to InOps and the special assistant to General Jack Granger at Central Command. A former military intelligence specialist, she plays a key role in GDI campaign briefings during the Third Tiberium War, providing the field commander with her analyses of Nod’s operations and tactics.
Military Intelligence
Before becoming Granger’s assistant, Telfair gained extensive experience in military intelligence. The Tiberium Wars manual describes her as a highly competent Officer, particularly skilled at analysing the tactics employed by Nod.
This specialisation explains her role within InOps. She does not usually command troops directly; rather, her role consists of gathering, interpreting and passing on the intelligence required by GDI commanders.
Alongside Jack Granger
At the start of the Third Tiberium War in 2047, Sandra worked directly under General Jack Granger at GDI Central Command. This posting enabled her to escape the catastrophe that befell much of the organisation’s leadership when Nod launched its offensive.
Granger clearly places enough trust in her to entrust her with part of the briefings intended for the Commander.
During the campaign’s first operation, he personally introduces Telfair to the Commander before handing over to her. Sandra explains that the GDI’s surveillance systems have discovered a high-powered underground energy network in North Carolina, indicating a significant clandestine Nod presence. She recommends reactivating a former GDI base and avoiding unnecessary clashes until the situation is better understood.
This initial exchange sums up his role well: Granger sets the strategic objective, whilst Telfair provides the operational analysis and intelligence required for its execution.## Suspicions Confirmed
Intelligence gathered in North Carolina quickly confirms that Granger and Telfair’s concerns were justified: Nod is preparing an offensive on a much larger scale than anticipated.
The situation became critical when the Goddard Space Centre was attacked and the GDI’s anti-satellite systems were neutralised. Granger and Telfair then realised that the GDSS Philadelphia orbital station, where the GDI’s top leadership was based, was now vulnerable.
Shortly afterwards, Nod destroys the Philadelphia, decapitating a large part of the GDI’s political and military leadership and turning the covert operation detected by InOps into a full-scale world war.
Sandra’s work takes on a new dimension when the Scrin invade Earth.
Granger then reveals to the Commander the existence of highly confidential information concerning the Tacitus, the mysterious alien matrix recovered by the GDI in 2028. Sandra explains that InOps has been working for years to decipher it and that one of the few certain conclusions reached was particularly worrying: the data contained a warning about a future alien invasion.
The arrival of the Scrin thus abruptly confirms a threat that Telfair’s intelligence service was aware of, though it had been unable to determine its precise nature or timing.
Relations with the Brotherhood of Nod
Sandra makes no secret of her hostility towards the Brotherhood of Nod. From her very first briefing, she describes its members as dangerous fanatics and views their clandestine facilities with deep mistrust.
This attitude is in line with that of Granger, who never believed that Nod had truly disappeared following the previous conflicts. But unlike the General, whose role is essentially strategic, Telfair brings specialised expertise on the methods, movements and tactics of the enemy organisation.
A liaison officer
Throughout the campaign, Sandra regularly steps in between missions to pass on intelligence and assist Granger in coordinating operations.
She is therefore one of the key figures in the GDI command structure alongside Jack Granger, Redmond Boyle and Kirce James, although she remains less involved in political decisions than Boyle and in the direct control of strategic weapons than James.
Personality
Sandra comes across as a professional, observant and methodical Officer. Her background in intelligence leads her to analyse a situation before recommending military action. When Nod’s presence in North Carolina was discovered, for example, she explicitly advised the Commander to fight only if it became necessary.
Nevertheless, she holds an extremely negative view of Nod and does not hesitate to express her contempt for its members.
