Catrina ‘Muerta’ Posada is a Mexican general in the GLA who was due to appear in Command & Conquer: Generals 2.

The daughter of a Mexican politician with an unstable temperament, Catrina grew up in privileged circumstances until the day demonstrators set fire to the family home, killing her parents.

After fleeing, she was captured and then indoctrinated by a group of insurgent guerrillas, who gradually initiated her in combat.

Deeply traumatised by her parents’ death, Catrina begins to have visions in which they demand new victims from her to share in their suffering.

On the battlefield, she becomes infamous for deliberately firing her RPGs into the midst of groups of fighters, making no real distinction between enemies and allies.

This violence earns her the nickname ‘Muerta’ and eventually attracts the attention of GLA General Mahmud Abdul-Muhsi, who offers her a place in his forces.

Having become a General, Posada developed a doctrine based on numerical superiority and attrition warfare: she sent wave after wave of fighters against enemy positions until their defences were exhausted.

Her soldiers share this particularly morbid view of combat and welcome their own deaths with enthusiasm, seeing them as the inevitable outcome of their cause.

To support her assaults, Muerta had at her disposal the El Diablo, a new GLA Light Tank designed to provide rapid support for her hordes of fighters.

She could also utilise a Sleeper Ambush ability and maintain the GLA’s traditional tactics of harassment and rapid retreat.

Catrina ‘Muerta’ Posada was thus to embody the GLA’s most self-sacrificing doctrine:to overwhelm the enemy with sheer numbers and accept as many casualties as necessary until their defences eventually crumbled.
