Status: Alive at the time of her last appearance.Lola ‘Babushka’ Merkova is an elderly woman leading a civil resistance movement against the Brotherhood of Nod whilst the latter occupies her village. Despite her age, she organises the villagers and sets up an intelligence network enabling GDI forces to track enemy movements.

The resistance against Nod

When Nod’s troops occupy the region, Lola refuses to submit and takes charge of the local resistance. Her group uses, in particular, a clandestine radio to monitor and report on the movements of Nod’s forces.

This intelligence eventually reaches Captain Nick “Havoc” Parker and the Dead-6, enabling them to gain a better understanding of enemy unit movements in the area.

Capture and Rescue

However, the resistance’s activities eventually attract Nod’s attention. Lola is captured by the occupying forces and held prisoner for interrogation.

Havoc intervenes before Nod can extract the information they are seeking. He eliminates the guards assigned to watch over Lola and manages to free the veteran resistance fighter.

Survivor

Lola subsequently demonstrates remarkable resilience, as she also survives a nuclear attack by Nod that strikes the region. Her fate following these events is not further documented.

Despite her very minor role, she exemplifies the resilience of the civilian population in the face of Nod’s occupation and their ability to provide valuable intelligence to GDI forces.
