McNeil*Associates:* Ricardo Vega, Tera Gallagher*Notable location:* Mobius Research Station*Time period:* After the Third Tiberium War
Scheduled appearance: Tiberium
Status: Unknown Maja is a priestess of the Brotherhood of Nod who secretly acts as an informant for the GDI following the Third Tiberium War. She works in particular with Cdr. McNeil and plays a role in the events surrounding the last Scrin Threshold Tower. Her backstory, however, originates from the cancelled Tiberium project and has therefore never been definitively incorporated into the main canon.
A priestess in the service of intelligence
Outwardly, Maja remains a loyal follower of Nod and retains her status as a priestess within the Brotherhood of Nod. In secret, however, she passes on intelligence to Cdr. McNeil and the GDI. The exact reasons for this collaboration are unknown.
This dual allegiance allows her to ascertain the positions and intentions of Nod’s forces whilst maintaining a degree of credibility amongst her former brothers and sisters.
The Last Threshold Tower
Maja travels to the Mobius Research Station, situated near the last remaining Scrin Threshold Tower on Earth. There, she meets GDI Commando Ricardo Vega, who has been sent to investigate the structure’s activity.
She reveals to him that Nod has deployed two battalions around the Tower. The area holds considerable religious significance for the Brotherhood, making any intrusion particularly dangerous. Maja therefore warns Vega of the risks he faces, whilst promising to do her utmost to guide him on his mission.
Ricardo Vega and Tera Gallagher
When they meet, Maja is surprised by Vega’s knowledge of Nod’s traditions. The Commando seems familiar enough with the Brotherhood of Nod’s customs to earn a certain amount of respect from the priestess.
The situation is very different with Tera Gallagher. She is deeply suspicious of Maja and does not seem convinced that her status as an informant is enough to guarantee her loyalty to the GDI.
This mistrust is understandable: Maja does not present herself as a former member who has completely renounced Nod. She retains her identity as a priestess and her intimate knowledge of the Brotherhood’s beliefs, which makes her true motives difficult to ascertain.
A non-canonical story
Maja was originally intended to appear in the introduction to the first mission of Tiberium, a tactical shooter that was ultimately cancelled. Her story therefore forms part of the material developed for this project and has not been confirmed by any published canonical work.
Her role nevertheless served to introduce an interesting aspect of the post-war period: the complex relations between the GDI and certain members of Nod, as well as the religious significance assumed by the last Scrin structure still present on Earth.
