Status: Deceased, assassinated by Nod.Nikoomba is a Libyan tribal chief who opposes the expansion of the Brotherhood of Nod in Africa at the start of the First Tiberium War. His refusal to submit to Kane’s organisation makes him one of the first targets of Nod’s military campaign.

Opposition to Nod

Whilst Nod seeks to consolidate its influence in Libya before continuing its offensive towards Egypt, Nikoomba represents a local obstacle. His stance is incompatible with that of the Brotherhood of Nod, and his presence helps to fuel resistance to its expansion.Seth, then head of Nod’s operations in Africa and Kane’s right-hand man, therefore decides to eliminate him. He entrusts this mission to a new Commander of the Brotherhood of Nod, with a simple order: find Nikoomba and kill him.

Assassination

Nikoomba finds refuge in a small Libyan village, protected by armed men. Nod’s forces, comprising infantry and buggies in particular, break through their defences and reach the village.

Nikoomba retreats to a hill north of the settlement. The defenders are unable to halt the offensive, and the tribal chief is eventually tracked down and shot whilst unarmed.

His death disrupts the local resistance and facilitates the consolidation of Nod’s authority in Libya. The Brotherhood of Nod can then continue its expansion towards Egypt.

Significance

Although Nikoomba is a very minor character, his assassination is of particular significance: it was the first objective entrusted to the Nod Commander during the African campaign. This Commander subsequently rose rapidly through the ranks until he was receiving his orders directly from Kane.
