The Brotherhood of Nod is a political, military and religious organisation led by the mysterious Kane. Its origins are unknown: the Brotherhood claims to have existed since ancient times, but it only became a global power with the arrival of Tiberium on Earth.

Long before the First Tiberium War, Nod already possessed a vast underground network combining political organisations, armed groups, corporations, international trafficking and Terrorist cells.

Introduction File (1995)> Also known by the following names: the Brotherhood of Nod, the Way of Nod, the True Tribe of Godan.

See the INTERPOL file ARK936 for further information on the other names given to the Brotherhood.
**Founded: Date unknown. Apocryphal texts suggest that the Brotherhood was founded 1,800 years before Christ.
**Ideology: The reunification of Third World countries under the influence of a pseudo-religious policy with imperialist tendencies. In reality, it is an aggressive, populist neo-fascist movement. The West is portrayed as the Great Satan, and its ultimate goal is world domination.
**Current motto: “Brotherhood, peace and eternity”.
**Current leader: Kane, also known as Caine, Jacob (INTERPOL file TRX11-12Q), Al-Quayym, Amir (m16 DR-416.52).
**Operations centre: Constantly on the move. Most recent presumed headquarters: Kuantan in Malaysia, Ar-Rub’al-Khali in Saudi Arabia, Tokyo in Japan and Caen in France.
**Military strength: Since the scandal that rocked the United States Department of Defence, the Brotherhood is no longer regarded as a mere Terrorist commando unit, but as a fully-fledged militia equipped with top-of-the-range land, sea and air weaponry.
**Economic power: Documents recently seized by the CIA have enabled the Brotherhood’s fortune to be estimated at over 255.2 billion dollars (see CIA report 3231.54-776 FIA).
**Political power: The Brotherhood is believed to fund the following organisations: Allah’s Avenger in Jordan (52 per cent), Strength and Unity in North America (12 per cent), ‘Albion First’ in Great Britain (25 per cent), as well as other political parties of a similar nature (see the Official Political and Social Journal for further details).
**Affiliations: Irish Republican Party, Islamic Jihad, Khmer Rouge (see the report on crypto-brotherhood splinter groups).

The arrival of Tiberium in 1995 radically transformed the Brotherhood of Nod. Kane quickly realised its potential, and Nod developed techniques to harvest and exploit this new resource, eventually securing a dominant position in the global Tiberium market.

But for Kane, Tiberium represents far more than a source of wealth: it constitutes the next stage in human evolution. The Brotherhood gradually develops a veritable religion centred on this substance and its prophet.

At the same time, Nod presents itself as the defender of abandoned and disadvantaged populations, in opposition to a GDI described as the instrument of wealthy Western nations and global elites.

This strategy proves particularly effective in the Yellow Zones, where the Brotherhood of Nod provides food, medicine, security and religious support to populations that the GDI struggles to protect. These regions, in turn, become Nod’s main sources of recruits and clandestine infrastructure.

Militarily, Nod traditionally favours speed, stealth, guerrilla warfare and experimental technologies over the conventional engagements sought by the GDI.

In particular, the Brotherhood develops Stealth Tanks, Obelisks of Light, Laser Turrets, chemical and nuclear weapons, followed by technologies derived from Tiberium and the Tacitus.

During the First Tiberium War, Kane attempted to extend Nod’s influence globally, but the GDI eventually reached the Temple of Nod in Sarajevo. A shot from the Ion Cannon destroyed the complex and Kane was presumed dead.

The Brotherhood of Nod survived nonetheless and eventually fragmented. In 2030, Anton Slavik overthrew Hassan before Kane miraculously reappeared and unleashed the Second Tiberium War.

Kane then sought to accelerate humanity’s transformation by Tiberium through Divination and the Tacitus. His ultimate plan is to transform the entire Earth into a Tiberian environment using a global alteration missile.

The GDI and the Forgotten thwart this plan in Cairo, and Kane is once again presumed dead.

The Brotherhood of Nod once again descends into internal strife before the CABAL rebellion forces Nod and the GDI to cooperate temporarily. After the crisis, Nod fragments even further.

Kane secretly rebuilds the Brotherhood of Nod and spends years preparing for a new war. In 2047, Nod destroys the GDI’s anti-missile control centre and then the Philadelphia orbital station, triggering the Third Tiberium War.

Kane’s true objective, however, goes beyond victory over the GDI: he manipulates events to cause a massive explosion of liquid Tiberium in Sarajevo, powerful enough to lure the Scrin to Earth.

The alien invasion ultimately enables Kane to seize a Scrin Threshold Tower, an essential component of his Ascension plan.

After the war, Nod goes underground once more. Kane entrusts LEGIONS with the task of reactivating the Marked of Kane and recovering the Tacitus, thereby bringing together the two essential elements for the final phase of his plan.

The Ascension

After 2047, the uncontrolled spread of Tiberium gradually threatens to render Earth uninhabitable. Kane finally re-emerges with a solution enabling the GDI to control the contamination: the Tiberium Control Network (TCN).

This unimaginable cooperation between the two enemies saves the planet, but triggers a serious crisis within Nod. A faction of the Brotherhood of Nod refuses to ally with the GDI and rallies behind Gideon, sparking a new internal war.

Kane eventually reveals that the TCN was merely a further step towards his true plan. His objective remains the one he has been pursuing for decades: the Ascension.

In 2077, after eliminating the final obstacles, Kane leads his followers to Threshold 19, the Scrin Tower that has remained active on Earth since the Third Tiberium War.

The Portal technology then enables Kane and the Brotherhood to leave Earth, finally fulfilling the prophecy foretold for generations.

The exact fate of the members of Nod after their departure remains unknown. For his followers, however, Kane’s promise has been fulfilled: the Ascension has taken place.

The Brotherhood of Nod thus represents far more than a mere terrorist organisation: a revolutionary movement, a religion, an army, an economic network and a parallel society, it has endured nearly a century of conflict with the GDI whilst pursuing a goal that ultimately transcends the conquest of Earth. For Kane, all the wars, all the defeats and even the arrival of the Scrins were merely stepping stones towards the Ascension.
