Russian TV presenter

Actress: Gabriella Bern

Name: Unknown*Nationality:* Soviet*Affiliation:* Soviet Union*Role:* Journalist / television presenter*Conflict:* Third World War*Appearance:* Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2
Status: Unknown.

The Soviet TV presenter is a journalist tasked with covering the progress of the Third World War from the Soviet Union’s perspective. She appears exclusively in theSoviet campaign of Red Alert 2and features at several key moments in the Soviet Commander’s rise to power.

Unlike Zofia, Romanov, Vladimir or Yuri, she is not part of the military command. Her role is media-related: she shows how the Red Army’s victories are presented to the Soviet population.

The war on television

The presenter features notably during Operation Big Apple, dedicated to the capture of New York.

Following the first Soviet victories in the United States, the regime sought to capitalise on these successes both militarily and politically. Television thus became a means of showing the public the Red Army’s advance and glorifying its leaders and commanders.

Her character thus contributes to the satirical atmosphere of Red Alert 2, where propaganda, official ceremonies and television news regularly accompany military operations.

The Fall of Romanov and Vladimir

She reappears at a much darker moment in the Soviet campaign.

By the end of the war, Alexander Romanov is dead, as is General Vladimir, whilst Yuri has turned against the rest of the Soviet leadership.

The newsreader then announces that the nation has lost its beloved Premier and its great General, before turning the public’s attention to the man who now represents its main hope:

the Soviet Commander. He has become the Supreme Commander and is continuing the war against the Allied Forces alone, having eliminated Yuri’s forces in Moscow.

This development therefore symbolically marks a major shift: Romanov and Vladimir are no longer the central figures of the regime. The player is now presented to the people as the Soviet Union’s principal military hero.## The Final Offensive

The presenter appears at the start of Polar Storm, the final operation of the Soviet campaign.

Following Yuri’s betrayal, the Commander launches the decisive offensive against the Allies.

The objective is to destroy their Chronosphere and permanently shatter their ability to continue the war.

The Soviet victory ultimately leads to the collapse of the Allied Forces.

The Commander then becomes more than just the hero of the Soviet Union: he becomes its new leader.

The New Soviet Premier

The presenter appears one last time in the final cutscene.

She announces that, all over the world, citizens are paying tribute to the new Soviet Premier.

The reports then switch from London to Paris, where the people are celebrating the arrival of the new leader.

This new Premier is none other than the Soviet Commander played by the player.

The presenter thus accompanies the entire transformation of his public image: from a relatively anonymous Officer at the start of the war, he gradually becomes a national hero, Commander and finally leader of the victorious Soviet Union.

A figure of Soviet propaganda

Although his screen time is limited, his role illustrates the importance of propaganda in the Soviet Union of Red Alert 2.

Her reports do not seek to present a neutral analysis of the conflict. They naturally adopt the regime’s point of view and highlight its leaders and victories.

She thus serves as the Soviet counterpart to the journalists and news channels used elsewhere in the saga to show the public impact of military campaigns.

Unknown identity

No name is given to the character.

She is simply identified as a Soviet newsreader and her fate following the Soviet Union’s victory is not specified.
