Status: Deceased, executed by Anton Slavik.Hassan is a leader of the Brotherhood of Nod who took charge of a major faction following Kane’s disappearance. Although he appears to be the leader of Nod, he is in fact secretly supported by the GDI: he passes on intelligence to General James Solomon in exchange for the help he needs to retain his power. This collaboration makes him a puppet leader tasked with keeping the Brotherhood weak and divided.
A leader backed by the GDI
Following the First Tiberium War and Kane’s disappearance, Nod fragmented into several rival factions. Hassan took advantage of this period of instability to establish himself as one of its principal leaders.
His power, however, rests on a secret agreement with Solomon:Hassan provides the GDI with intelligence on Nod’s activities, whilst the GDI allows him to retain his authority over the Brotherhood of Nod.
This situation suits the GDI perfectly. Hassan is regarded as a weak leader who keeps Nod in the shadows and eliminates any elements likely to restore the Brotherhood of Nod’s military power.
The arrest of Anton Slavik
The main threat to Hassan comes from Anton Slavik, Commander of Nod’s 41st unit and a staunch loyalist to Kane.
On Solomon’s orders, Hassan has Slavik arrested, falsely accusing him of being a GDI Spy. He then sentences him to death, hoping thereby to eliminate one of the last Commanders capable of reuniting the Brotherhood.
But Oxanna Kristos organises Slavik’s escape before his execution.
Hassan then realises that he has grossly underestimated the support his rival enjoys within Nod. He desperately tries to secure Solomon’s help, but to no avail.
The War Against Slavik
Now free, Slavik sets out to overthrow Hassan and restore the true Brotherhood.
Hassan makes extensive use of television propaganda to maintain his authority. Slavik therefore strikes directly at his media apparatus by capturing the transmitter used to broadcast his messages.
The loss of this propaganda tool accelerates the collapse of his regime. Many Soldiers desert Hassan and join Slavik, who increasingly appears to be the true representative of Nod.
Deprived of a large proportion of his supporters, Hassan eventually retreats to his pyramid near Cairo.
Slavik’s forces lay siege to the complex. Realising the battle is lost, Hassan attempts to flee, but is captured.
Slavik then decides to make an example of him.
In front of the Soldiers of the 41st Nod Unit, he accuses Hassan of betraying the Brotherhood of Nod by collaborating with the GDI, then executes him personally.
Above all, this execution carries considerable symbolic significance: it coincides with Kane’s public return, through which he reveals that he has survived and regains control of the Brotherhood.
