Status: Unknown.Shai ‘Hotwire’ Aviv is an Israeli electronics specialist and a member of the GDI’s elite Dead-6 unit. A woman of few words and particularly tough, she serves as the team’s Combat Engineer, capable of repairing equipment as well as capturing or sabotaging enemy installations.

From Jerusalem to the Mossad

Shai grew up on the rough streets of Jerusalem, where she was regularly confronted with the consequences of violence and terrorism. This experience shaped her character and contributed to her future commitment to the fight against organisations threatening international security.

Before joining the GDI, she served with the Mossad, where she distinguished herself enough to attract the attention of the international organisation. Her technical expertise earned her the nickname ‘Hotwire’.

The Dead-6

Shai then joined the Dead-6, a Commando unit deployed by the GDI for its most sensitive operations. The unit’s members are officially declared dead to facilitate their covert activities and allow the GDI to deny any involvement.

The team includes Nick "Havoc" Parker, Dariel ‘Deadeye’ MacInnis, Nigel ‘Gunner’ Grant, Erich ‘Patch’ Wulfe and, initially,Sakura Obata.

Hotwire holds a special place within the group: she is not primarily an assault fighter, but a tactical Engineer. She excels at repairing vehicles and buildings, taking control of facilities and using explosives.

First Tiberium War

During the events of Renegade, Hotwire is reunited with Havoc whilst he is carrying out operations against the Brotherhood of Nod.

In Deadly Reunion, she is trapped in a building during the fighting. Havoc eliminates the Nod forces in the area and enables her to rejoin the other members of the Dead-6.

She then plays a key role in Obelisk of Oppression. Havoc must escort her to several SAM Sites so that she can use her technical skills to turn Nod’s equipment to the GDI’s advantage.

Hotwire stands out above all for her versatility. Her expertise enables her to maintain vehicles, quickly repair damaged structures and plant various explosive charges.

In operations where purely military destruction would be too risky, Shai can therefore infiltrate or directly neutralise enemy infrastructure.

This specialisation makes her an essential member of the Dead-6: whilst Havoc, Gunner, Deadeye and Patch primarily provide firepower, Hotwire ensures Tech Support and sabotage operations.
