Actor: Jonathan Pryce

Affiliation: Allied Nations / Great Britain*Rank:* Field Marshal*Role:* Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe*Specialism:* Strategic Command*Status:* Varies depending on the campaign Field Marshal Robert Bingham is the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe during the Third World War in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3.

An experienced British officer, Bingham is a calm, stoic and pragmatic man who would much rather look after his dogs and rose bushes than lead another world war.

His measured nature stands in stark contrast to that of the US President Howard T. Ackerman, who is far more impulsive and fiercely anti-Soviet.

When the Soviet Union invades Europe, Bingham evades capture and entrusts the defence of Britain to a young Allied Commander who has only recently graduated from the military academy.

Following the emergence of the Empire of the Rising Sun, he realises that the Allies and the Soviets are too weakened to face this new power separately.

Bingham therefore negotiates a temporary alliance with Moscow, despite President Ackerman’s categorical opposition, in order to concentrate their forces against the Empire.

When Ackerman attempts to break this alliance by secretly using the Mount Rushmore superweapon against Moscow, Bingham takes the extraordinary decision to order its neutralisation.

He then accepts the defection of the Soviet scientist Gregor Zelinsky, who reveals to him the temporal manipulation at the root of the conflict and warns him of Cherdenko’s true intentions.

Bingham then orders an investigation into Soviet activities in Cuba, where the Allies uncover an operation designed to prepare a surprise attack on the United States.

The truce comes to an end and Bingham launches his forces against the Soviet Union, culminating in the final assault on Leningrad, where Cherdenko and Krukov attempt to flee into space.

In the Soviet campaign, events take a different turn: Bingham anticipates a betrayal during the peace negotiations, but his forces are defeated by the Red Army on Easter Island.

In the Imperial campaign, he also cooperates with the Soviets against Japan before making his final stand in Amsterdam, where he is killed when his pillbox is destroyed by Imperial forces.

These fates, however, belong to conflicting campaigns; in the Allied campaign, Bingham survives the war and leads the Allies to victory.

Robert Bingham thus embodies the most pragmatic aspect of Allied leadership: an Officer capable of fighting his enemies, forming temporary alliances with them, and even opposing his own president when the survival of the Allies demands it.
