Status: Alive at the time of his last appearance.Dariel ‘Deadeye’ MacInnis is a Scottish GDI Commando and member of the Dead-6. A former soldier in the British Special Air Service, he is regarded as an exceptional marksman, specialising in eliminating targets at very long range. His particularly difficult character contrasts with the precision and professionalism he displays in combat.
From the SAS to the GDI
Originally from Scotland, MacInnis served for several years with the Special Air Service. This experience enabled him to develop remarkable skills in precision shooting and special operations.
He then joined the GDI and became part of the Dead-6, a team comprising several elite operatives assigned to the most sensitive missions. Its members are officially declared dead so that they can operate covertly and allow the GDI to deny any involvement in certain operations.
The Dead-6
Deadeye fought alongside Nigel ‘Gunner’ Grant, Shai ‘Hotwire’ Aviv, Erich ‘Patch’ Wulfe, as well as Nick ‘Havoc’ Parker and Sakura Obata before they left the unit.
Within the team, MacInnis naturally takes on the role of tactical sniper. He is described as the GDI’s best marksman, with a near-perfect hit rate for shots fired and targets hit at ranges exceeding 200 metres.
This specialisation complements those of the other members: Gunner provides heavy weapons, Hotwire his technical skills and Patch his expertise in explosives, whilst Deadeye neutralises high-value targets from a distance.
Reunion with Havoc
During the events of Renegade, Deadeye is reunited with Nick "Havoc" Parker during the operation to rescue the scientists captured by Nod.
Havoc finds him in an inn in a Mediterranean village where several members of the Dead-6 have taken refuge. After being rescued, Deadeye rejoins his former comrades and takes part in the rest of the operation.
The Dead-6 are then reunited to fight the Brotherhood’s forces and support Havoc on his mission.
Deadeye is described as a gruff and foul-mouthed Scotsman, shaped by his many years with the SAS. He has a difficult temperament and seems reluctant to talk about the Dead-6’s past or their former operations.
His behaviour, however, contrasts with his exceptional effectiveness. Behind his unsociable nature lies one of the most competent operators the GDI has at its disposal.
His nickname, ‘Deadeye’, perfectly sums up his reputation: his exceptional accuracy enables him to eliminate opponents from several hundred metres away with remarkable consistency.
