Status: Alive at the time of her last appearance.Cassandra Blair is a journalist for the W3N channel who covers several major events of the Third Tiberium War in 2047. Her reports allow the public to follow the progression of the conflict between the GDI and the Brotherhood of Nod from a media perspective.
The attack on the Philadelphia
Cassandra is at GDI headquarters in Washington when Nod launches its surprise offensive. She reports live on the crisis triggered by the attack on the GDSS Philadelphia, the orbital station which at the time is hosting a large number of GDI leaders.
After neutralising the A-SAT defence system, Nod launches a Nuclear Missile Silo at the Philadelphia. The station is destroyed and its debris begins to fall back towards Earth.
Cassandra witnesses the disaster first-hand. Whilst she continues her report, Nod’s forces also attack the Blue Zone in the north-east of the United States. She is eventually knocked to the ground live on air as the offensive reaches her position.
The GDI’s counter-offensive
Cassandra survives the attack and subsequently resumes her work.
She covers the counter-offensive led by the GDI to recapture the lost territories. Her reports particularly highlight the victories of a young GDI Commander, whose successes against Nod help to restore the morale of government forces following the destruction of the Philadelphia.
When Nod’s forces are driven out of the north-eastern Blue Zone, Cassandra presents this series of victories as the beginning of a turnaround in the GDI’s favour.
The North African Campaign
She also appears following the GDI’s operations in North Africa.
Cassandra then informs the public of the Commander’s latest successes and the destruction of Nod’s weapons of mass destruction in the region. These victories further bolster the young officer’s reputation, and she gradually emerges as one of the conflict’s leading military figures.
Role
Cassandra is not a member of the GDI: she works for W3N and acts as a journalist covering the conflict from the outside. Her role consists mainly of showing how military events are presented to the civilian population.
Her reports also provide a measure of how the war is progressing: she moves from covering the chaos caused by the destruction of Philadelphia to reporting on the GDI’s first major victories.
