The TCN
The Tiberium Control Network is a system designed by Kane and built with the help of the GDI to control the spread of Tiberium. It consists of control nodes and a vast network of interconnected pipes and cables, all linked to the Scrin’s final Tower, extending its Tiberium harvesting and processing capabilities across the entire planet. According to Dr Pascal, the TCN should contain the spread of Tiberium, decontaminate the Earth, and enable humanity to use Tiberium as a safe and efficient source of energy.
Tiberium contamination had reached critical levels, and GDI’s technologies had proved ineffective. Kane met with GDI’s leadership and proposed a joint project: the construction of the Tiberium Control Network. Kane had the technology, but only the GDI possessed the resources required to build it. The two warring parties then formed an alliance. Father John W.E. Vladislav and Dr Johann Pascal were the two key designers of the TCN.
After 15 years of work, construction of the TCN is nearing completion. A conflict over the TCN then broke out in 2062 between the Nod separatists and the GDI. The separatists launched surprise attacks on the blue zones and the TCN Construction Yards.
The TCN became the focal point for all parties (GDI and Nod) as they sought to activate it and prevent the Separatists from destroying it. Ultimately, the activation of Scrin Tower 19 proved to be the final stage of the TCN, and Tiberium was seen being drawn into the nodes.
Hubs and Nodes
Although the differences between the two are not known, it is assumed that Hubs coordinate the TCN’s nodes within a given area (for example, in the Pacific), whilst the nodes harvest Tiberium. Evidence confirms that Kane intended to synchronise the main Hubs with Scrin Tower 19.
Notable Hubs and Nodes
- TCN Node No. 24: situated near the town of Waukesha, not far from Node No. 30, it was successfully defended by Captain Leon Kamperov against the Nod Separatists.
- TCN Node No. 51: established in the Siberian wilderness, its construction was hampered in 2071 by the mysterious attacks carried out against the GDI by the ‘White Lady’ (Alyssa). It was not completed until 2072, following the loss of four GDI expeditions.
- New Adana: this hub was desynchronised by Colonel James, before being resynchronised by Kane during Gideon’s assault on the city.
- The Pacific Hub: situated in Guam, it was realigned by Kane following a three-way battle between Colonel James’s rebel forces, Gideon’s forces and Kane’s forces.
- The Arctic Hub: situated within the Arctic Circle, it was aligned by Kane’s forces, who in fact used it as a decoy to divert the attention of Colonel James’s GDI forces. Following a three-way battle between the GDI, Nod loyalists and the Separatists, the hub was captured by the GDI before self-destructing, eliminating all forces in the vicinity.
