Status: Non-canon character from Generals 2

Ultarak ‘Junkyard’ Nazarbayev is a Kazakh Field Mechanic who rose to become a General in the GLA, specialising in salvaging and refurbishing equipment abandoned on the battlefield.

An orphan, he grew up in the devastated lands of Kazakhstan following the GLA uprising, where he learnt to survive at a very young age thanks to his intelligence and the military wrecks littering the country.

Naturally gifted at mechanics, Ultarak began salvaging destroyed or abandoned Chinese light vehicles, which he managed to repair and convert into makeshift means of transport.

His talents quickly attracted the attention of local warlords, who forced him to work for them.

Growing increasingly fed up with their rule, Nazarbayev eventually plans his escape and manages to flee aboard a partially functional Chinese Overlord tank that he has restored himself.

During his escape, he stumbles upon a GLA Boot Camp.

The organisation’s fighters take him in, eliminate his former masters and thereby win the young Field Mechanic’s unwavering loyalty.

Having risen to the rank of General, ‘Junkyard’ develops a doctrine based entirely on scavenging, recycling and improvisation, transforming battlefield debris into new military resources.

His army was notably equipped with Technicals, Quad Cannons, Battle Buses, Marauder Mk. IIs, toxic helicopters and Black Market Artillery, as well as various infiltration units.

His positions could be protected by missile, rocket and toxin sites, reflecting the diversity of the equipment salvaged by his forces.

His signature ability, ‘Faulty Construction’, also embodied this philosophy of cobbled-together equipment and repurposed technology.

Ultarak ‘Junkyard’ Nazarbayev was thus intended to embody the very essence of the GLA’s approach to scavenging: waste nothing, learn from every battle, and turn the machines abandoned by the enemy into weapons against them.
