Affiliation: European Union / Italy*Rank:* General*Speciality:* Special Forces*Nickname:* ‘Lupa’
Status: Non-canonical character from Generals 2
Lupa is an Italian General in the European Union who was due to appear in Command & Conquer: Generals 2.
She was to hold the position of General of Special Forces, making her one of the eight European commanders planned for the game alongside Bulldog, Daedalus, Ghost, Mercury Red, Salvo, Cleaver and Cutting Edge.
Her doctrine would therefore have centred on the use of elite units and specialised operations, in contrast to the more conventional doctrines of the other European generals.
This specialisation brings her closer to Jean-Marie ‘Ghost’ Gavel, who himself focuses on reconnaissance and infiltration, but Lupa was intended to represent European special forces more specifically.
She would have had at her disposal the technological arsenal of the European Union, a faction relying in particular on a combination of specialised infantry, modern armoured vehicles, aviation and advanced weaponry. The game’s archives specifically mention Fox LRVs, Aegis tanks, Longbows, Phantoms, Valkyries and units equipped with railguns amongst the planned European equipment.
Her real name is unknown:‘Lupa’ is the only name under which the character was presented.
The term lupa means ‘she-wolf’ in Latin, which could correspond to a nom de guerre evoking both her Italian origin and her military role. The source confirms this meaning, but not the exact reason behind the choice of this name.
Very little additional information has survived the project’s cancellation, although several official artworks and wallpapers dedicated to the character have been preserved.
Lupa was thus intended to embody the European Union’s special forces:a mysterious Italian General whose operations would have relied on elite troops rather than conventional military power.
