30 years of CnCSaga

September 2026, the whole team celebrated the 30th anniversary of the CnCSaga.com website, launched by Tchutch’ in September 1996, with events taking place throughout the month, including:

  • The new CnCSaga website;
  • A major tournament from 1 to 29 September;
  • Daily live streams on Twitch from 2 September to 1 October;
  • A major competition.

The new CnCSaga website

Introduction to the new website

During this event, lasting around 2 hours, Zéphyr and Tchutch’ present the new CnCSaga.com, look back at the site’s history and engage with the community through a quiz. The overarching aim is clear: to modernise the site whilst preserving nearly thirty years’ worth of content dedicated to Command & Conquer. Here are the key points:

  • A complete overhaul after more than ten years. The new site replaces a version dating back to around 2012. The content management system and server have been updated, with a modular layout and, most importantly, full optimisation for smartphones. Zéphyr handled the development, Tchutch’ took charge of much of the text and image migration, and the team focused particularly on the mods;
    -Preserving the archives is at the heart of the project. Their priority was to recover content from the old site and material scattered across the forum. They explain that they encountered missing images, videos that could no longer be found, and difficulties in retrieving photos hosted elsewhere. The new site aims to preserve this legacy for the long term, at a time when many fan sites are disappearing;
    -The wiki and game profiles have been reorganised and expanded. Over 200 characters are already featured, complete with their backstories, factions, units, buildings, powers and upgrades. Console versions, compilations and cancelled projects are also featured. The texts have been proofread and their layout standardised; the addition of illustrations and briefing videos is still ongoing;
    -Extensive research is feeding into the galleries. The material comes from personal archives, content provided to fan sites, beta test contributions, magazines and artists’ portfolios. Tchutch’ highlights the difficulty of correctly identifying concepts, particularly when they relate to abandoned projects. Some old Flash animations have also been made available for viewing once again. The galleries will gradually be supplemented with further explanations;
    -The music section features a particularly comprehensive built-in player. It includes nearly 500 tracks, comprising soundtracks, remasters and some rare versions, such as a rock version of a Generals theme by Bill Brown. The player offers a shuffle function and, according to their tests, allows you to continue listening on your phone even when the screen is locked;
  • Mods are becoming a major section. Over a hundred were listed at the time of the presentation, complete with practical information, download links and, depending on the entry, videos and galleries. The team aims to test them further, produce their own screenshots and regularly highlight featured mods. Visitors are invited to report any missing projects;
    -The site aims to make it easier to participate in the community. A section explains how to play online and displays players currently connected across several community platforms, including CnCNet, OpenRA, Generals Online and C&C:Online. Broadcasts, gaming nights, tournaments, fan creations and past events are also categorised. The aim is to make this content easier to find than in discussion threads or playlists;
    -Significant attention is given to collectors and the history of CnCSaga. Collector’s editions, audio CDs, figurines, pins and other items are documented. The site’s history and former team members are also highlighted. Tchutch’ recalls creating the first pages in 1996, aged 14. They also look back at the name CNC Addict, used from 2008 onwards, and the numerous version changes;
  • The site continues to be run on a voluntary basis, with no advertising or affiliations. They emphasise that they earn nothing from purchase links. The guestbook allows visitors, former members and figures from the franchise to leave a message. Several creators have already contributed, notably Frank Klepacki and Jim Vessella;
    -The event forms part of the celebrations marking C&C’s 30th anniversary. They are organising a tournament scheduled for September, featuring a mix of games – not just RTS titles – as well as competitions and prizes. A new series of collectable cards, made in France, features Kane, Tanya and Yuri. The eleven-question quiz held during the live stream offers the chance to win a Kane card and a genuinely signed photograph.

The second part is also packed with memories and comments on the series: Tchutch’ discovering C&C in German, the Nod CD lost whilst Zéphyr’s family computer was being repaired, the surprise caused by the announcement of Red Alert 2, and their disappointment at the cancellation of Generals 2 / Command & Conquer in 2013.

Finally, they express their hope for a new C&C, but make no announcements and say they have no confirmed information. The improvements promised during the evening primarily concern the gradual expansion of the website and the continuation of community activities.

The Grand Tournament

Tournament Overview

During this event, lasting around 1 hour, Pyrocob is hosting a community tournament running for most of September, with a different game every evening. The aim is to reward consistency and versatility, whilst introducing participants to a wide range of games and mods in a deliberately offbeat atmosphere. Here are the key points:

  • A marathon running from 1 to 29 September. The evenings start at 9 pm, though we’d like you to arrive a little earlier to check the set-up and prepare for the matches. 30 September is set aside for a review and the publication of the results. Some events are explicitly limited to three hours, ending at midnight;
  • The main format is free-for-all. Most RTS games are played over three FFA matches, so that a player who is eliminated early can try their luck again later in the evening. Some longer games have only one or two matches. Events featuring randomly formed teams are also planned, notably on Istrolid and War Thunder;
  • Command & Conquer and its mods form the core of the programme. Pyrocob has announced Tiberian Sun, Red Alert and Kane’s Wrath, amongst others. Mods play a significant role: Combined Arms, Dawn of the Tiberium Age, Chrono Divide, Twisted Insurrection, ShockWave Chaos, Rise of the Reds, Mental Omega, Tiberium Essence, Contra, Corona and The End of Days. Fractured Realms also showcases a creation involving members of the community;
  • The selection extends well beyond the C&C universe. The programme also includes Dune 2000 on OpenRA, Age of Empires III, StarCraft, Beyond All Reason, Warzone 2100, OpenFront and Planet S. The idea is to vary the gameplay mechanics and allow different types of players to shine;
  • Several evenings even stray completely from the RTS genre. Time trials on PolyTrack, hunting on theHunter, treasure hunts on World of Sea Battle, incremental gameplay or timed colouring on Coloring Pixels: Pyrocob aims to break the routine. These events should also offer opportunities for those less proficient at strategy games to climb the rankings;
  • Each game has its own victory conditions and tie-breaking rules. Ties are often settled in a duel, but with variations: air combat only on ShockWave Chaos, naval combat on Dawn of the Tiberium Age, infantry-only on Rise of the Reds, or ionic storms and meteorites on Twisted Insurrection. On theHunter, the tiebreaker involves being the first to shoot a bear;
  • The leaderboard rewards results, but also consistency. The positions achieved in each match are used to determine the evening’s leaderboard, which then contributes to the overall leaderboard. Pyrocob emphasises: finishing third, fourth or fifth also earns points, and taking part regularly can make all the difference;
    -Accessibility is a key selection criterion. Pyrocob explains that he looked for free games and those that are relatively straightforward to set up. Some titles were ruled out for practical reasons. Restrictions are also in place to limit previously acquired advantages: in War Thunder, vehicles are restricted to the early levels, whilst certain other events require players to start afresh with a new character or with their progress reset;
  • A minimum amount of preparation is recommended. He places particular emphasis on Istrolid, where you need to build your ships and prepare your fleet before the evening. He also recommends trying out Warzone 2100 and completing the World of Sea Battle tutorial. For individual events, screenshots and verification checks will be used to verify results;
  • Registration and updates are handled via CnCSaga.com. The registration form, rules and game and mod descriptions will be presented during the live stream. Pyrocob then mentions that registration closes on 26 August. Results must then be saved in the site’s tournament history.

The announced prizes are a trophy, a unique T-shirt and the title of ‘Warlord’ on Discord, which will be held until the next major tournament. Pyrocob concludes by encouraging practice, but also leaving room for surprises: quickly getting to grips with a game or knowing how to negotiate in an FFA can count for just as much as experience. The atmosphere is meant to be good-natured, with temporary alliances, betrayals during matches and plenty of banter amongst regulars.

Daily live streams on Twitch

Zéphyr’s live streams at the heart of the Tiberium Saga

Since 2 September 2026, Zéphyr has been joining you every evening from 5.30 pm to 9 pm on Twitch to celebrate CnCSaga’s 30th anniversary with a Command & Conquer marathon.

The adventure begins at the origins of the conflict:from 2 to 4 September, it’s time for the GDI campaign in Command & Conquer 1, before joining the Brotherhood of Nod from 5 to 7 September. On 8 September, we’ll switch perspectives with Renegade, to experience the fighting up close on the ground.

The journey continues in Tiberian Sun, with the Nod campaign from 11 September, followed by the GDI campaign from 14 September. The Titans take centre stage and, on the 16th, Zéphyr wonders: will he manage to finish TibSun that evening?

From 17 September, Hydra Missions takes over. On the agenda: the formidable Core Defender, continued operations with Nod, and a few grumbles about missions without a base!

These live streams set the tone for an anniversary celebration punctuated by humour and nods to the community.

22 September marks the start of Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. The following evenings will see the GDI in trouble, a return to Sarajevo, a stop-off in Switzerland, then the arrival of the Scrin on 27 September.

Finally, the Kane’s Wrath campaign begins on 29 September.

From the first battles of C&C1 to C&C 3: Kane's Wrath, this marathon offers the chance to rediscover the saga’s campaigns and, night after night, reconnect with the characters, units and missions that have left their mark on players.
