Single-Player Solution
United States:
Mission 1: Operation: Final Justice
Start mass-producing Paladin Tanks and begin your advance towards the town to the west. The garrisoned Soldiers will be driven out by Chinook Transport. Continue until you reach the central square and eliminate any threats.
Take all your tanks and head to the very north of the map, then turn right and clear out any resistance you encounter.
Mission 2: Operation: Treasure Hunt
Start by building 9 or 10 Paladin Tanks, then send them – followed by the Humvees (upgraded with the TOW missile launcher) – towards the first Pilot. The Humvees will come in handy for easily eliminating the rioters.
Once the first pilot has been rescued, you can either bring him back to your base or place him in one of your tanks.
Continue your advance to the second pilot. Here, you can use rangers equipped with Flash Bang Grenades to neutralise the Stinger sites before destroying them.
The third pilot is on the right, in a small GLA outpost. Charge straight in, then bring all the pilots back to your base.
Mission 3: Operation: Guardian Angel
The mission is fairly straightforward: form two squads of Comanches equipped with Rocket Pods and position them at the entrance to the canyon, and set up two or three defences at your base. Your objective is to rescue 100 US units.
Prioritise destroying the Scorpions, then the GLA’s Jeeps once your Comanches have run out of rockets. The only thing to watch out for is the possibility of encountering Quads around the GLA’s fourth or fifth attack.
Once you have rescued the required number of Soldiers, an attack will head towards your base; you can easily wipe it out with your defences.
Mission 4: Operation: Storm
Start by destroying the pillboxes with your Tomahawk Missile Launchers, then the Stinger sites, still using the same four launchers. Deploy reconnaissance drones on your missile launchers, which will make it easier to aim.
Once the few Stinger sites have been destroyed, bombs dropped by B-52s will clear the way for you to establish a foothold.
Start building 4–5 Paladin Tanks, then advance slowly eastwards with your Scorpion Rockets. Destroy everything you come across along the way: units and structures. This way, you’ll reach the GLA base without encountering much resistance. For the base itself, do the same: don’t enter straight away, but destroy as many vehicles and buildings as possible first, then enter the base accompanied by your Paladins. Destroy the Tunnel at the top of the base, watching out for the Buggy, then head west and finally south to find the last pocket of rebel survivors.
Mission 5: Operation: Blue Eagle
Select the A-10 Strike Level 2 bombing run, the Paladin Tank and the Commando as the General’s bonus.
Start by placing your rangers in the first building on your right, build a Command Hub and activate the bombing plan. As soon as you have a close-range A10 airstrike, launch it at the enemy base, prioritising the Barracks and defence systems.
Build 3 Tomahawk Missile Launchers and a Humvee. Place a Ranger inside and head north to capture the hospital. Meanwhile, use the Humvee to collect the cash box just to thewest of the hospital, as well as the one just below the bridge.
Then begin your advance with a Humvee equipped with a reconnaissance drone, and destroy enemy buildings and units with your Tomahawks. As soon as you’ve cleared enough space, train 4–5 Commandos and move your entire army across the river.
Destroy all buildings except the Command Center. Start by positioning your Commandos in a semicircle to the west of the base. Build a supply depot and start raising funds. Place 2–3 Patriot Missile sites to the north and west of the base, then build a few Paladin Tanks.
When you’re ready, capture the GLA Command Center. Two Buggies will then destroy the Barrage, cutting you off from your first base. Several groups of Soldiers will arrive, which will gradually level up your Commandos. Destroy the vehicles with your tanks. Be careful, as more will arrive from the north. Begin your advance with around ten tanks, 2–3 Tomahawk Missile Launchers and a Humvee equipped with a reconnaissance drone. Don’t forget to use your A-10s to destroy as many enemy defences as possible. Advance steadily, keeping an eye out for the suicide bombers that will be produced in rapid succession. Start by destroying the Barracks and the Arms Dealer; this will make your advance easier. Destroy the enemy buildings as you approach the Scud missile site, which you will, of course, destroy. The rest is now a piece of cake.
Mission 6: Operation: Desperate Union
Choose the Level 3 A-10 bombing run as your bonus, followed by the Paladin Tanks, then whatever else you like. Keep an eye on the terrain at all times via your Command Center, then bomb the targets one by one with the A10s throughout the game.
Start building your base by placing 1 or 2 Patriot Missiles just above the bridge next to your base, as well as 1 or 2 below your base. You can head to the south-west of the map to discover a supply depot just waiting for your Chinook Transport vehicles.
The GLA won’t build any Scud missile sites; however, China has set up a small base in the south-east of the map, equipped with a Nuclear Missile Silo. As soon as you spot it (it will be automatically revealed when the countdown begins), send your A-10s in to attack it, along with a Particle Cannon, for example, to destroy it. That way, you’ll have nothing more to fear.
The rest of the mission is fairly straightforward: advance steadily with 4–5 Tomahawk Missile Launchers accompanied by a few Paladin Tanks, and keep moving towards the GLA base whilst destroying everything in your path.
You can also destroy the Chinese airport in the south-east; this will prevent you from suffering any further attacks from MiGs.
Mission 7: Operation: Last Call
Choose the A-10 Strike Level 3, the Fuel Air Bomb and the Paladin Tank as the General’s bonuses, then whatever else you like.
The first objective you’ll need to achieve in this mission is the destruction of the Scud missile site. Once that’s done, the rest will be a mere formality. To do this, build a Particle Cannon as quickly as possible so that it’s fully reloaded before the Scud missile site is. Then launch the A-10 bombing raid on the Scud site along with the Particle Cannon. Job done.
What next? Build a substantial army of Paladin Tanks, a few Humvees equipped with TOW Missiles and reconnaissance drones to detect Shadow Teams. Support this army with 3–4 Tomahawk Missile Launchers and advance towards the enemy base.
Start by destroying the parts of the fortress that are garrisonable structures, then enter and finish the job – which will no doubt already be well underway thanks to your Particle Cannons and A-10 airstrikes...
Note: You can choose the Spy Drone, the Level 3 bombing run and the Fuel Air Bomb as bonuses. Right at the start of the game, place the drone over the Scud missile emplacement, then launch the bombers and the Fuel Air Bomb at it. For the latter, click slightly to the right of the emplacement, as the aircraft will otherwise be destroyed.
China:
Mission 1: The Dragon’s Awakening
Start by using your Dragon tanks to eliminate the attacks coming from the right of your base, whilst beginning to build Warmaster tanks. Advance a little to the right and head up to the bridge guarded by a Tunnel. Use your tanks, along with the reinforcements arriving, to wipe out everything there. Cross the bridge and a squadron will come to your rescue, sparing you a future battle. Continue your advance upwards, then turn left to reach the Missile Silo. It is protected by a few rebels, Scorpions and Technicians, but around ten Warmaster tanks and 4–5 Dragon tanks will quickly deal with them.
If you need further reinforcements, there are two groups of units hidden on the map:
- The first group consists of two Overlord Tanks and is located at the bottom left of the map
- The second group is located at the very bottom left of the map and consists of four Battlemaster tanks.
Mission 2: Crisis in Hong Kong
Start building your base. Whilst you’re doing this, you can retrieve the crate of money situated just to the left of the equipment depot (surrounded by wire fencing). Choose the Artillery Barrage and emergency repairs as the General’s bonuses.
Start building 3 War Master tanks to destroy the Toxin Tractors that will arrive from above. A short while later, a train will drop off some new Soldiers at your base, and this will happen regularly. Continue advancing your tanks to destroy the Arms Dealer further north. Above all, do not destroy the Pillbox and the chemical plant next to it – you might come to regret it… You can then capture the building next door, which will allow you to build new tanks at a lower cost.
Build 3–4 Gatling tanks and around ten Warmaster tanks, then begin your advance towards the exhibition centre. The centre is surrounded by two car parks from which booby-trapped cars will emerge. Start by destroying them if you want a clearer path ahead. Continue your tour of the centre, destroying everything in your path.
Mission 3: Floods
Start building a Command Hub, a Supply Center, Barracks and everything else that goes with them. Place the two Tank Hunters in the turret at the bottom right of your base, then deploy the Red Guards to that turret and the Pillbox. Some troops will arrive from below; you can send your Masterminds to lend a hand to the Turrets.
Once the Barrage has been destroyed by the GLA’s Scorpion, you’ll have about 5 minutes to prepare a welcoming committee. Build 2–3 Warlord tanks and move them, along with the Dragon tanks, onto the path that opens up to the right above the Barrage. Use your Warlords to take out the Scorpions and the Dragons to deal with the infantry. You can then replenish your army using emergency repair. Place a few Red Guards and Tank Hunters in the building situated between you and the GLA, above the Barrage.
Next? Build an army consisting of Battlemaster Tanks and Gatling tanks, and advance into the town on the right, then head down to find the enemy base. Use Land Mines and the Artillery Barrage on the Weapons Factory to prevent massive, regular waves of enemy tanks. Similarly, once the enemy base has been uncovered, make full use of the MiGs to destroy everything. It’s a good idea to station Red Guards and Tank Hunters in garrisonable structures as you advance.
An oil rig and a petrochemical plant are located on the left-hand side of the map, in line with your base, and a Supply Center is at the bottom of the map.
Note: You can take the Artillery Barrage as a bonus and use it to destroy the tanks waiting in front of the bridge until the water has receded sufficiently.
Mission 4: Broken Alliances
Choose the Cluster Mines, the Red Guard Training and another bonus of your choice.
Start by training several Hackers, followed by Red Guards and Tank Hunters. Send the Red Guards forward first and attack the first Stinger site. The soldiers inside will be quickly killed and you can easily finish the job. With Black Lotus, capture the oil rig on the right, then continue your advance towards the next Stinger site, taking care to destroy the jeep that will arrive with your Tank Hunters. Launch your Cluster Mines right next to the second Stinger site. Advance whilst watching out for the oncoming suicide bombers. A Rocket Buggy should arrive when you are very close to the Stinger site, but it will be destroyed by your Cluster Mines.
You can then destroy the site just to the left, after crossing the river. Here, too, you can drop Land Mines to easily destroy the Toxin Tractor, or capture it with Black Lotus (but in that case, watch out for the Stinger site!).
Continue your advance along the left to take control of the Chinese war factory. Once there, watch out for the car bombs heading your way, as well as the Jeeps that will try to run your men over.
Build some War Master tanks and a few Gatling guns. Once you have enough, advance the whole force to the final Stinger site at the top. You’ll come across a small base that you’ll have no trouble destroying; Jeeps, Soldiers and suicide bombers will emerge from it. When you reach the Stinger site, let them have it!
Mission 5: Scorched Earth
This mission doesn’t really require much thought. Choose the Level 2 Artillery Barrage, the Nuke Cannon and Cluster Mines as the General’s bonuses.
Use the mines to protect your base from the first enemy troops arriving from the north-west. Build 4 MiGs and send them after the Rocket Buggies, which will occasionally attack your Gattling Cannons.
Once you’re sufficiently defended, start building 5–6 Emperor tanks and 3–4 Nuke Cannons. Next? It couldn’t be simpler: visit each site one by one and destroy everything in your path, whilst watching out for the Demo Traps scattered around the city. Equip most of your Emperor tanks with Gatling guns, and two with propaganda towers.
Remember to protect your Nuke Cannons.
Mission 6: Death Around the Corner
Right from the start, have your hackers collect money online and begin building Gatling tanks, along with the corresponding upgrades. With Black Lotus, go and collect 5 crates of money located just below and to the right of your base, above your base in a car park at the very start of the town, and you’ll find another 2 just across the river to the right near the bridge; you’ll need to head down to the riverbank, then cross a second bridge to collect another crate. You’ll find the last one by retracing your steps, right at the very bottom of the map, just behind the railway line. Bring Black Lotus back to base.
Place three Gatling tanks to defend the bridge on the right, as enemy troops will be arriving. Once you have a further six or seven Gatling tanks, build a Troop Crawler and place Black Lotus inside it. Cross to the other side of the bridge on the right, and even to the right-hand side of the railway line (watch out for the train!). Then unload Black Lotus, who will detect several Demo Traps. Blow them up using your tanks, capture the Arms Dealer and sell him off. Then continue your advance upwards, taking care to move back to the left-hand side of the train to avoid a Stinger site. You’ll reach the station. Station some Red Guards there; this way, the newly arrived Soldiers won’t last long. Continue your climb with the other tanks and Black Lotus. You’ll reach a Supply Stash. Capture it with Black Lotus and take out 2–3 Workers to collect the money. Carry on further up and you’ll reach a second one. Same procedure: capture it. There are also two crates of money right next to it.
Now build a few more Grattling tanks, Dragon tanks and War Masters. You can now advance, destroying enemy resistance as you go, until you reach a circular square. Rioters will emerge from the stadium and head towards you. Greet them with your Grattling tanks, which you’ll position in a semicircle to the left of the square. Then bring up your Dragon Tanks and clear the GLA Garrisonable Structures from the buildings. Next? Well, gather all your forces and clear the way to the bridge.
Bring Black Lotus and have her head for the middle of the bridge. Mission accomplished.
There’s another way, if you want to finish this mission very quickly. It’s not the most interesting, but this way it’ll only take 5 minutes...
Right from the start, take Black Lotus straight up to the bridge… and… That’s it! She’ll cross the entire map without any trouble and will only encounter Stinger sites at the end, but as she’ll be on the move, they’ll find it extremely difficult to hit her.
Mission 7: Nuclear Winter
This mission, once you know the trick, isn’t all that difficult. In fact, the main difficulty of the battle is avoiding the Scuds launched by the GLA: if you have too many units, she’ll fire them at them, which prevents you from building a large army, or else you’ll have to keep a constant eye on her...
The trick is quite simply NEVER to reach $5,000 or more, because even if the GLA builds a Scud missile site, it won’t launch them all whilst you remain below that threshold. So be careful, as just a second’s inattention is all it takes for your base to come under fire.
At the start of the mission, take the third-level Artillery Barrage and Land Mines as your bonuses. Start by driving out the GLA soldiers stationed here and destroying their base. Begin building your own base and send a Gatling tank to scout the terrain to the north until it reaches a Stinger site or a Tunnel, then bring it back to your base. Defend the sole entrance to your base with your two Overlord tanks, one equipped with a Gatling gun and the other with a propaganda turret. Position them so that both can recharge, and lay your Land Mines to defend the entrance to your base.
Build about ten Hackers and place them in the canyon through which you arrived. As you rank up, prioritise the EMP and use it not to disable enemy buildings, but to reveal the map! Aim for the edge of the black veil and you’ll be able to see the entire enemy base.
Start building a few Overlord Tanks, which you’ll also place at the entrance. Next? Airports (6 is a good number) and MiGs upgraded with armour as well as Black Napalm. The rest of the mission is quite long but not difficult: send your MiGs to the various defence sites, then all of them to the Scud missile site located at the top centre of the map. Once that’s destroyed, you’ll be able to exceed $5,000 and build Nuclear Missile Silos to finish off the GLA.
A tip for quickly locating the GLA’s Scud missile site is to build an Airport and a MiG. Have it fly along the left-hand edge of the map and take it right to the top. Once there, head straight to the right. It will be destroyed but will reveal the site in question.
Next? One Nuclear Missile Silo plus a level 3 bombing raid and the job’s done!
Mission 1: Black Rain
Start building a War Factory, then produce 3 Jeeps and 7–8 Scorpions.
Once everything is ready, take the whole force and head right to destroy the first Chinese outpost along the river. Remember to collect all the scrap left behind by enemy tanks to upgrade your Jeeps.
Once that’s done, head up to liberate the town by destroying the propaganda tower in the centre of the town.
Continue your ascent to destroy another base. Then head left and go up to the Barrage, which you’ll destroy.
Mission 2: Drop Zone
A mission that couldn’t be simpler: build around ten Marauder Tanks and a few quads. Head into the town on the right and destroy all the civilian buildings there. For every building destroyed, you’ll receive a crate of money. Get rid of the civilians first (you can kill them to help you with your task).
Reach $40,000 and you’ll win.
Mission 3: The Capital Occupied by the Chinese
This mission is child’s play and hardly even warrants an explanation.
Gather all your rioters and start by destroying the police cars heading towards you. Collect the cash boxes that fall out, then destroy the buildings one by one to collect the money.
Mission 4: Incirlik Airbase
Your main task at the start of this mission is to counter US air strikes.
Right from the start, take 2 Workers to the lower plateau just to the left of your base and build 2 Stinger sites in line with your base. Meanwhile, start producing Workers in your Supply Stash, build an Arms Dealer and a Barracks, and construct Scorpions and Quads. You can use the Sleeper Ambush bonus to scout the terrain, for example by crossing the bridge and discovering a new Supply Center protected by a few US forces.
Once you have a sufficient attack force, build a Palace and start producing Rocket Buggies, which you’ll use to destroy the enemy Patriots. The rest is very straightforward: advance gradually, destroying everything in your path, and finish off the US base, which won’t put up much resistance.
Mission 5: Bacteriological Depots
Prioritise the 5th Level 2 column, and then choose whichever bonus you like. The technique for using these soldiers is quite simple: we’re going to capture as many US buildings as possible. To do this, as soon as they’re available, deploy them just above the US base and capture as many buildings as you can. This way, your enemy will no longer be able to build tanks, will lose the Strategy Center, and every Ion Cannon will be captured within seconds.
Start by building a Supply Stash next to the warehouse at the top of your base, and place Rocket Soldiers and rebels in the buildings of the small village, which is also at the top of your base, to the right of the Supply Center. Build two Stinger Sites on the road coming from the north, and place your two Scorpion Chats here.
Start building an Arms Dealer and producing a few Marauder Tanks, followed by Rocket Buggies and quads. Place 2–3 quads at the top of the village to easily eliminate any enemy Soldiers approaching. Once you have 5–6 Buggies and 3–4 quads, begin advancing to the right. Eliminate the soldiers with the quads, then destroy the pillboxes guarding the bridge. Advance and do the same on the other side. Once there is no longer any danger, capture a few bacteriological pillboxes with your soldiers. Once you have 4 or 5 of them, you’ll have enough; your aim will then be to wipe out the last survivors. All the Soldiers on the map will then converge on you. You’ll easily stop them with your quads.
Mission 6: Dissident-controlled region
This mission isn’t one of the most difficult.
Choose the Level 3 Rebel Sleeper Ambush as your General’s bonus, then the Marauder Tank, for example. Start by bringing the lorries carrying the nuclear warheads into the enemy base: one right next to the Arms Dealer, another right at the entrance, and the third wherever you like. As soon as the ground returns to normal, send the Rebel Sleeper Ambush between the Barracks and the Arms Dealer and try to destroy as many buildings as possible.
What next? When Chinese reinforcements arrive in the canyon, you’ll be able to stop them easily, and as soon as you have access to the Sleeper Ambush unit again, send it into the enemy base and destroy everything you find, preferably the Barracks, the Arms Dealer and the Command Hub. At a certain point, there are two possibilities: either the enemy sells all their buildings and you’ve won, or you’ll be able to easily wipe them out with your tanks anyway.
Note: A quick way to win the game is to gather all your forces right from the start and destroy the Command Hub, the War Factory, the Barracks and the Palace (if there is one) – and that’s it.
Mission 7: Soviet-era Scorpion Rocket launchers
Choose the Level 3 Sleeper Ambush, the mobile Scud launcher, the Marauder Tanks and the Anthrax Bomb as your bonuses. Start building your base, and place defence systems just to the left of the railway line running to the right of your base. Place some above your base as well – Inferno Cannons might arrive.
Take the Camouflage upgrade in the Palace, then, once it’s activated, drop the Anthrax Bomb on the US base to the right to clear some space. Wait for the effect to wear off, then launch the rebel Sleeper Ambush on the upper part of the US base. Don’t attack, but wait until you can capture buildings, and take control of a few Power Plants – but most importantly, the Ion Cannon at the very top of the base. As soon as a building is captured, sell it, and above all, don’t attack with your rebels. As soon as a building is placed to be constructed, destroy it; this will cost them a lot of money, but more importantly, you’ll never have to face an attack from the Ion Cannon. You can also use your rebels to explore the north of the map to find the Chinese Nuke Cannon, and, most importantly, the Power Plants that supply it.
What follows isn’t very complicated, especially as the Chinese will often drop their Nuclear Missile Strike right over your base, causing almost no damage. Build Marauder Tanks as well as Quads, which will destroy the stealth bombers attacking your defences. Launch an initial advance towards the US base with Marauder Tanks and 2–3 mobile Scud Launchers. You won’t encounter much resistance, and you can destroy or capture the remaining buildings and dislodge any Rangers who might be garrisoned there, then capture the Command Hub.
The Chinese base is further up the map; take a second squad of Marauder Tanks and head up via the top. Destroy everything. Then advance to the right to capture the Nuclear Missile Silo.
That’s it!
Note: Bear in mind that the ultimate weapons won’t be used until you’ve captured at least one of the buildings. Wipe everything out and then take the buildings to be on the safe side. Be careful: on this mission, your opponents will rebuild their ultimate weapons if they’re destroyed!
