EALA ANNOUNCES THE DEVELOPMENT OF C&C 4
The next instalment in the legendary real-time strategy game series will reveal the conclusion of the Tiberium saga
Los Angeles, California, 9 July 2009 – Get ready, Disciples of Nod, for the end is nigh! After nearly 15 years and 30 million games sold, Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that its studio, EALA, is set to bring the Tiberium saga to a spectacular conclusion with Command & Conquer™ 4. Command & Conquer 4 will be available in 2010. The new game will feature a host of innovations whilst retaining the mechanics that have made the series such a hit with fans. With a new class system, mobile bases and persistent player progression across all game modes, Command & Conquer 4 will offer unprecedented, innovative and captivating strategic depth.
‘Now in its 15th year, Command & Conquer is a strong franchise. It is with immense pleasure that we will bring the dramatic Tiberium saga to a close in Command & Conquer 4. This game will give fans all the answers they’ve been waiting for,” explains Mike Glosecki, production lead for Command & Conquer 4 at EA LA. “With an objective-based multiplayer mode, a persistent progression system and a multi-purpose mobile base, players will experience Command & Conquer in a radically new light.”
The story of Command & Conquer 4 takes place after the events of the critically acclaimed Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars™. The year is 2062, and humanity is on the brink of extinction. There are only six years left before the strange crystalline ore known as Tiberium renders the Earth completely uninhabitable. The two rival factions – the Global Defence Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of Nod – are desperately striving towards the same goal: to prevent Tiberium from destroying humanity. The unthinkable becomes reality and Kane, the enigmatic leader of Nod, sets course for the GDI headquarters. What is he plotting at the heart of the enemy base? Command & Conquer 4 will bring the Tiberium universe to a masterful conclusion. Fans will discover the fate of Earth, Nod, Tiberium, the GDI and, above all, the true plans Kane has been pursuing all these years.
In addition to the two campaigns featuring spectacular battles between the GDI and Nod, which players can play solo or in co-op mode, Command & Conquer 4 will also feature a new 5-on-5 objective-based multiplayer mode that emphasises teamwork and cooperation whilst offering a real-time strategy experience unlike any seen before in a Command & Conquer game.
Command & Conquer 4 is currently in development at EA Los Angeles and will be available for purchase in 2010 on PC. This title has not yet been awarded a PEGI rating. For more information about the game, visit www.commandandconquer.com (English-language site) or follow the community and the development team on Twitter at http://twitter.com/ea_apoc (English-language site). On 24 July, BattleCast™ PrimeTime will bring fans the latest news and exclusive information on Command & Conquer 4.
