C&C: Tiberium Alliances

Units

Rifleman Squad

The GDI Light Infantry form the bulk of the GDI forces. Equipped with an Auto Rifle and a bulletproof vest, the GDI Light Infantry can neutralise Nod infantry and the hordes of the Forgotten, but will need to be withdrawn when armoured vehicles arrive.

Missile Squad

The GDI Missile Defender unit can neutralise enemy buildings. Its Perforator missile launcher enables it to penetrate the various layers of concrete and detonate inside. However, as the armour-piercing rocket is not designed to penetrate the tank’s laminated armour, it ricochets off the tank, causing only superficial damage.

Zone-Troopers

Zone-troopers are soldiers tasked with exploring red zones. Their armoured suits enable them to withstand external attacks. They are equipped with a railgun capable of piercing armour. This is one of the most useful weapons for exploration; it can be used to clear a path and neutralise the strongest mutants. In combat situations, zone troopers are more effective against tanks. Their rate of fire puts them at a disadvantage against units equipped with automatic weapons.

Commando

Throughout history, the GDI and Nod have needed fast, stealthy operatives for behind-the-lines operations. The GDI Commando is the answer to this need. Armed with C4 explosives and trained to use them as effectively as possible, the GDI Commando can quickly bring down any structure. However, its effectiveness is limited when facing an infantry squad. Nor can the Commando be used against vehicles.

Sniper Team

A sniper team always consists of two men: the shooter and the spotter. Equally effective in defence and attack, the Sniper Team ensures that no enemy infantry units get within range. Although formidable against infantry, the Sniper Team is ineffective against armoured units, buildings or aircraft, as its weapons are not powerful enough to penetrate armour.

Guardian

The Guardian is a light anti-infantry vehicle. Its roof-mounted machine gun enables it to effectively neutralise infantry units, even if they are equipped with anti-tank weapons. Its speed also enables it to take the enemy by surprise and inflict damage – albeit limited – on rear buildings. However, its thin armour leaves it vulnerable to armoured units.

Pitbull

The Pitbull is a light anti-structure vehicle. Its rockets are highly effective at destroying buildings. However, its armament is virtually ineffective against vehicles and infantry. A shrewd commander will clear a path for his Pitbulls. Thanks to their speed, they will break through enemy lines and be able to wreak havoc on buildings behind the lines.

Predator

The Predator is a conventional Heavy Tank. Its 90mm armour-piercing shells are highly effective against other armoured vehicles. The Predator is capable of crushing enemy infantry units, although its shells are ineffective against infantry. Contrary to popular belief, the Predator’s shells are not very effective against buildings; they merely pierce them without causing damage to the interior.

Juggernaut

The Juggernaut is a mobile walking Artillery system. The advantage of walking vehicles is that they can reach places that are inaccessible to armoured vehicles, such as the top of a steep hill. However, this advantage comes at the cost of a low top speed. Nevertheless, the Juggernaut remains a valuable asset in the GDI’s arsenal when it comes to destroying structures.

Mammoth

The MKIII Mammoth Tank is the flagship of the GDI’s armoured vehicles. Firing 100mm shells from its twin guns, the Mammoth can literally tear enemy tanks in two. Crushing infantry with ease, the Mammoth also inflicts damage on structures. This war machine is a veritable steamroller, but whilst nothing can withstand its onslaught, its speed is ridiculously slow.

Paladin

The Paladin is a VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft. Capable of hovering, it is equipped with an anti-tank gun. Its stationary position whilst firing at an enemy unit leaves it vulnerable. And its low speed does not really give the Paladin time to destroy a target and get out of range of enemy troops.

Firehawk

The Firehawk is a very powerful jet aircraft. Unlike the Paladin, the Firehawk flies at high speed without stopping, bombarding the buildings it flies over. Its speed enables it to outrun enemy anti-aircraft defences, which will take too long to reposition themselves to intercept it.

Orca

The Orca is the first aircraft developed by the GDI. It has evolved over the course of the wars to become the current version: the Orca IV. As it is also an ADV, it shares certain parts with the Paladin. The Orca was formerly a tank hunter, and was converted into an anti-infantry aircraft when the Paladins entered service.

Kodiak

A veritable flying fortress, the Kodiak was developed during the Second Tiberium War to transport senior officers. As it was unarmed, it was intended to remain out of the fray. However, following the incident that left Commander McNeil’s Kodiak stranded in enemy territory, it was decided to develop an armed version of the Kodiak. Mass Production could not begin until the Third Tiberium War. The cost of this aircraft remains prohibitively high, however. Nevertheless, its effectiveness against structures is now well established.

Buildings

The GDI Construction Yard

The Construction Yard has always been at the heart of every base, whether GDI or Nod. This version retains the ability to retreat to the VCM. The difference is that this latest version of the VCM takes all the buildings that have already been constructed with it. The loss of a Construction Yard results in the loss of the entire base; it must therefore be heavily protected.

The GDI Power Plant

The GDI Power Plant has not changed during the Insurrection Wars and has remained the same since the Third Tiberium War. It supplies electricity to all GDI infrastructure already in place.

The GDI accumulator

A power cut during an enemy attack can have catastrophic consequences. That is why the GDI has developed the Accumulator. The result of the GDI’s latest research into superconductivity, the Accumulator enables a Commander to increase a base’s electricity storage capacity.

The GDI Tiberium Refinery

The GDI’s Tiberium refining process has hardly changed since the Third Tiberium War. Consequently, the structure’s design has remained the same. The valuable materials extracted during refining are then sold on. The Tiberium Refinery is the primary source of income for a GDI base.

The GDI silo

Tiberium is not an easy substance to store. Radiation, magnetic disturbances, its growth process and other phenomena require a specialised storage system. The GDI silo stores tiberium safely. It enables a Commander to maintain a stock of tiberium. The Tiberium silo stores both green and blue Tiberium indiscriminately.

The GDI ore truck

The GDI Ore Truck is at a developmental impasse. It remains in service pending the roll-out of the TCN collection system. The vehicle is heavily armoured – not only to withstand enemy attacks, but also to protect against the toxicity of Tiberium. The cockpit can be ejected to allow the pilot to safely exit the vehicle once it has become toxic. The harvesters are the only means by which the GDI Commander can obtain Tiberium for construction.

The GDI Command Hub

The GDI Command Hub enables its Commander to deploy military units. This is because, even if military production facilities are available for production, the military units produced cannot be deployed directly. It is necessary to have the appropriate command infrastructure. The Command Hub enables the commander to deploy military attack units.

The GDI Defence Centre

The GDI Defence Centre centralises the management of all a base’s automated defences. It enables a Commander to organise their defences effectively with their EVA unit.

The GDI Defense Facility

There will inevitably come a time when the base’s defences are attacked. The defence workshop carries out emergency repairs between attacks. It coordinates the management of personnel and spare parts across the entire base. Its destruction will prevent any automated repairs from taking place.

The GDI Barracks

The GDI barracks enable the Commander to deploy infantry units. The barracks house standard training equipment. A well-maintained and upgraded barracks reduces maintenance and upkeep costs. This ensures that the commander on duty does not waste time waiting for the attacking forces to recover.

The GDI Weapons Factory

The GDI War Factory manufactures GDI vehicles. The GDI has historically always held air supremacy. Consequently, unlike its Nod counterpart, the GDI has not needed to bury its Weapons Factory.

The GDI airfield

The GDI airfield consists of helipads. Since the First Tiberium War, the GDI has continuously developed its Orca vertical take-off aircraft. This technology eliminates the need for a long runway, reducing manufacturing costs and enabling the aircraft to take off in any circumstances. The deployment of GDI helipads subsequently, due to the lack of runways, permanently steered the GDI’s aeronautical research in this direction. Support systems The various support systems were invented following the stretching of the front lines during the insurgency wars. Faced with the excessive cost of a single device, the GDI high command developed three different devices. This more comprehensive approach led to the creation of the crawlers. – The Skystrike Support device is an anti-infantry device. It rains hot shot down on enemy units. The hot shot penetrates the Kevlar and lightweight Ceramic armor plates worn by infantry. The effect is reduced on heavy vehicles, as their armour stops the small projectiles.

Ion Cannon

  • The Ion Cannon Support has been designed for maximum effectiveness against armoured vehicles. The system consists of two parts. A ground-based Ion Cannon fires at a special mirror positioned at high altitude; the angle of reflection allows a target to be designated. The ion beam easily penetrates the armour of enemy vehicles with a single, concentrated impact on the vehicle. However, the system is less effective against infantry, as they cannot be effectively targeted by the orbiting mirror.

Bottle

  • The Flacon support system is a SAM Site. It uses heat-seeking missiles that detect the reactors of enemy aircraft. However, the system is of no use against infantry and tanks, as these do not emit a strong enough thermal signature.
