Single-Player Solution
United States:
Mission 1: Operation Global Security
Your first objective is to secure the station. Collect the bonus to build Paladin Tanks; build 7–8 of them, then begin your advance northwards. Destroy the Stinger Sites blocking your path. Thanks to your tanks’ lasers, you shouldn’t take any damage.
With this firepower, you’ll have no trouble taking control of the station, thereby completing your first objective.
Your second mission will be to destroy the missile, but before that, load your best troops onto the train carriages. Bear in mind that a Humvee can carry up to 5 infantry units! Once the train is full, it will set off. Send a Ranger to the radio post to call in the bombers, who will clear the area for you a little, then raze the base to the ground. Once you’ve finished, a B-2 will arrive and drop a BAM, securing your victory.
Mission 2: The Warehouses
Your first objective is to ensure the ten Supply Trucks reach the warehouse. To do this, you’ll need to secure the route they’ll be taking. Use Burton to scout the surrounding area and make full use of air strikes to destroy Stingers, tunnels and other pillboxes. You’ll reach the warehouses with no trouble at all, where you’ll leave a few units to secure the area.
Be on your guard, however, against enemy units arriving from the south to attack you with motorbikes and Jeeps. You’ll also face a few Scorpion raids from the north. As soon as the first lorry reaches the warehouses, you’ll have completed your first objective.
You must now locate and destroy all GLA resistance. Here too, make the most of the airstrikes. You shouldn’t even need to build a base: scout the terrain with Burton and destroy the targets with shells. You can use your four Comanches to destroy the enemy waves coming from the north. You’ll finish by destroying the main base located in the north-east.
Mission 3: Operation Snowfall
Start by eliminating the few Soldiers with your Snipers, then destroy the radar van with Burton. Still with your Rambo, begin your advance northwards until you reach the first Tunnel. Kill the nearby units with your knife, then destroy the Tunnel, taking care not to let Burton get killed. Continue advancing through the base, destroying the Barracks and then the Stinger site.
Once everything has been destroyed, soldiers will emerge from the buildings and you’ll need to head all the way north to destroy the laboratory.
Use Burton to place remote-controlled charges on the few Scorpion tanks patrolling the area, and use your newly available Rangers to flush out the GLA Soldiers who are garrisoned in the town’s buildings (use your Flash Bang Grenades).
Carry on heading north and you’ll find two abandoned Paladin Tanks on the right, as well as a Microwave Tank. Take control of them.
The rest is just a matter of repetition: deactivate the tunnels with the Microwave Tank and destroy them with Burton and the Paladin Tanks. To the west, you’ll find a small GLA base. If you destroy it completely, six additional rangers will come to assist you in your task.
Carry on up to the mountain to the north, climb it and let things take their course...
Mission 4: Operation Black Gold
The main difficulty of this mission will be at the start, as Demolition Trucks will arrive regularly, along with car bombs. The only way to stop this is to destroy the radio transmitter located in the north-east.
Start building your base, and deploy your tanks at the three entrances (two to the west and one to the north) of your base. For an effective defence, position Rocket Soldiers in the minaret overlooking the northern bridge, as well as one Sniper and two Patriots on each bridge.
Take control of the two oil wells located right next to the base using a Ranger, but make sure to clear the area of mines beforehand with a Dozer. You can also advance a little further west to capture a few more, but be careful – Jarmen Kell is on a small hill!
Build a few Paladin tanks, and when the A-10 airstrike becomes available, use it to destroy the radio transmitter. From that point on, everything becomes easier. Also use the Leaflet Drop on the Arms Dealers to slow down vehicle production. Similarly, use the airstrike to destroy the Scud missile site.
Take a few Paladins (9–10) and advance northwards. Clear out the troops garrisoned in the town’s buildings using Flash Bang Grenades. Also remember to equip one of your tanks with a Scout Drone, as there are a few Demo Traps set up at the entrance to the GLA base.
Continue your advance and you’ll have no trouble destroying everything with two or three mobile Tomahawk launchers.
Mission 5: The End of Thrax
Your objective here is to capture four GLA bacteriological sites. This objective in itself isn’t particularly difficult, but if you take too long, a half-hour countdown will start before the launch, so you’ll need to hurry!
The general bonuses you should choose are those that cause the most damage, such as the Specter, the Fuel Air Bomb or the A-10 bombardment. Make use of them throughout the mission to gradually destroy the enemy’s defences, as well as their production sites and the Scud site that will be built. Take control of the oil rigs and other Artillery platforms.
Right at the start of the mission, send a unit eastwards to discover a GLA base. This base is made up of rebel troops who refuse to obey Thrax. Make sure you properly protect the north of your base with five or six Patriot sites. The two sites housing the Missile Silos are in the north-east and the north, so you’ll need to cross the entire map to reach them. As the map is littered with Demo Traps, it goes without saying that deploying a Scout Drone for each group of units is highly recommended. Clear out the troops garrisoned in civilian buildings using rangers equipped with Flash Bang Grenades. Also, watch out for rocket launchers armed with chemical weapons that are highly destructive to your tanks.
Accompany your Paladin tanks with a Humvee carrying a few rangers to help you capture the silos, as well as two or three mobile Tomahawk launchers to take out the Rocket Soldiers.
Advance cautiously and you’ll reach the Missile Silos. Be warned: camouflaged chemical infantry are positioned next to each one. And bear in mind that the most challenging aspect of this mission will be the time limit!
Mission 1: The Unleashed Dragon
The GLA base is located to the north and is protected by a few Demo Traps at its entrance.
Start by expanding your base, placing defences to the north and east, then begin an advance eastwards with your Overlord Tank accompanied by a few Battlemasters. Capture the Artillery platform, then the rest of the US base. What next? Simply follow the paths heading north to reach the enemy base, whilst clearing the village and surrounding area of the few units stationed there. Watch out for the Garrisonable Structures containing Rocket Soldiers.
Once you reach the enemy base, use a troop transport to uncover the few Demo Traps and destroy the enemy Artillery platform using a Carpet Bomb run or an Artillery barrage. If your army is large enough, you’ll cut through them like a knife through butter and finish them off quickly.
Mission 2: Base Defence
Your first objective will be to protect your base from the invaders for 10 minutes, after which reinforcements will arrive. The first thing to do is to station all your Soldiers in the pillboxes surrounding your base; they will ensure an effective defence. You’ll be attacked from all sides.
Once the 10 minutes are up, you’ll need to destroy all GLA resistance on the ground. There are four bases surrounding you, one in each corner of the map. You can expand your base using the Dozer provided.
You have two options: a ground attack or an air attack. The second option is undoubtedly the simplest, although ground support from two Nuke Cannons may be useful at the start. Take a group of four or five Helixes and upgrade them with Air Strike drops, then visit each base one after the other to finish them off quickly.
Mission 3: Liberation
In this mission, you must liberate a village from GLA oppression. To do this, you’ll need to destroy several statues, all scattered throughout the town.
Start by putting your hackers to work and begin developing your base. Use the Listening Outposts to locate the invisible Stinger sites just to the north, as well as a few Demo Traps to the east and north-east. Once you have access to the power-ups, prioritise the Carpet Bomb and use it to destroy the statues one by one. The last statue to the north will likely cause you more trouble, as the Carpet Bomb won’t reach it unless you’re extremely lucky. You’ll then need to launch a ground attack, preferably from the west, as there are fewer defences there. Start advancing, destroying everything in your path, and use ‘Frenzy’ when necessary to give your troops extra strength. If you have enough time left, you can take out the enemy-held Garrisonable Structures one by one, but if time is running out, launch a massive attack on the last statue to put an end to the oppressor.
Mission 4: Sky Ablaze
This mission is by no means the most difficult in the game, and you’ll only need Helix to complete it.
You start with three Helix helicopters; build nine more and split them into two groups of six. Upgrade two units in each group with a propaganda Turret and the rest with a Gatling gun.
Enemy waves will be flagged up in advance on the Radar Upgrade, so simply head to the indicated location and lay a few Land Mines if necessary.
The final wave will be more difficult to deal with, as not only will enemy assaults not be signalled in advance, but the enemy will also attack from all directions. Stay alert and you shouldn’t have any problems!
Mission 5: The Dragon’s Fate
First steps: capture the oil derricks on your right, and take control of the US vehicles located to the south and to the west, right next to a Supply Center.
A fictional GLA base is located in the south of the map. Take control of it and convert the fictional buildings into real structures so you can use them.
Attacks will come regularly from the west; deploy the necessary forces to stop them in their tracks.
Once you have stabilised the situation, your first objective will be to cut off the US power supply to prevent them from using the Particle Cannon. Their Power Plants are close enough together that you can destroy several with a single Artillery strike. Destroying the US Command Hub will also prevent you from coming under regular attack from this enemy. In the far north-west of the US base, there are a few pilots who will enable you to promote your units to veteran status quickly.
The GLA base will be your second objective. The main threat from this faction is Scud missiles. A Nuclear Missile Strike plus an Artillery Barrage will easily destroy the silo. The rest is simply a matter of patience and continuously building Emperors. Advance steadily, drop your Nuclear Missile Strikes whenever you can, and a few dozen minutes later (or a few hours, depending on the difficulty level), victory will be within your grasp.
GLA:
Mission 1: City outskirts...
Collect the few crates with your quads and Jeeps to upgrade them, then head south and cross the bridge. As soon as you’ve crossed it, you’ll be attacked by a few US units, which will be quickly wiped out by your Jeeps. Motorcycles mounted with rocket launchers will join you.
Follow the path eastwards and, after a brief US attack, you’ll be able to take control of an Artillery platform, then arrive at a disused base where you’ll produce Marauders.
Once you have a sufficient number of Marauders (8–9), cross the bridge to the north; if you wish, take control of the supply platform and destroy the few drones lingering there.
Then head west and destroy the two US Firebases. Do the same with the structures, then drive the limousine onto the runway to complete your mission.
Mission 2: Secret Programme
Here, you’ll need to acquire Kassad’s Camouflage technique to use it for the rest of the mission.
Start by surrounding your base with tunnels, which will detect and eliminate any Shadow Teams that approach. Next, assemble a strike force consisting of one or two Marauder Tanks, three or four quads and a radar van that will always follow them very closely.
This should be enough to reach the north of the map. You can then either destroy Kassad’s Barracks and Arms Dealer or capture them. Next, capture the Command Hub and you’ll gain access to Kassad’s troops’ stealth capability.
The second objective of this mission is to capture a second Command Hub located to the west, behind a bridge.
You can use stealth, but also consider using mobile Scud Launchers to destroy the pillboxes guarding the bridge. Then cross to the other side and use the radar vans to detect all the enemy’s invisible units. Advance gradually westwards to find the second Command Hub and capture it. You can go round the hill to destroy a Palace and a Black Market.
Thanks to this new Command Hub, you now have access to the Sneak Attack. Use the radar vans to find out what’s on top of the cliff and destroy everything you can reach with your Scud launchers. Then build a tunnel and send your units inside. Launch the Sneak Attack over the cliff and bring all your units out. Of course, destroy everything you see.
The final palace where Prince Kassad is hiding must be destroyed, but it is guarded by Jarmen Kell. Use your radar vans to locate him and kill him with your Scud launchers. Now all that remains is to destroy the centre, however you see fit...
Mission 3: Seafront
Go and eliminate the few rangers to the east and take control of the Crusader using a Hijacker. Then continue southwards to reach the Particle Cannon and make it clear to the US Soldiers there that they have no business being here...
Your next objective is to capture the US Power Plants to get the cannon working. Get your units across the water using the Tunnels. Once on the other side, deploy just one Hijacker and capture the Tomahawk launcher. Use Jarmen Kell to kill the pilots of the three tanks guarding the base entrance, then destroy the Firebases with your tanks (you can kill the garrisoned Soldiers with Jarmen Kell first). Capture the Power Plants, and leave two quads on guard.
To the east of the GLA base, move a unit to the coast, launch a Sneak Attack on the other island and send a few tanks and a Toxin Tractor across to dislodge the garrisoned Soldiers. Destroy the few tanks on patrol and go and find the Arms Dealer. Start producing a few vehicles. You can use the Particle Cannon to clear the path heading north (Patriots, Pillboxes, Paladins and Tomahawk launchers). To the north of the island, you’ll find a new base containing a Command Hub. Develop it as required. You should now have a sizeable army. Use your Particle Cannon to destroy as much of the US base to the north as possible (airports, etc.).
You must now head south. Take a large army and start advancing. You can accompany your troops with Rocket Buggies. Destroy the Patriots guarding the entrance to the Command Hub. Clear out the area and move a unit all the way south. The Aircraft Carrier is now a thing of the past.
Mission 4: Jarmen Kell and the 40 Thieves
Your first objective will be to take control of the ferry and dock it on the beach.
Use Jarmen Kell to kill the pilots of the Humvee and the Crusader, then take control of them with your Hijackers. Then get them all onto the ferry. On the other side of the riverbank, capture the hospital with one of your rebels, along with the three Jeeps.
Your second objective will be to obtain a Radar Upgrade van, located on the eastern island where your Jeeps are parked. Use them to make your way there, and remember to pick up the upgrade kits to fit them with rockets. There are enough crates for all your Jeeps. Get out, destroy the three Humvees on patrol, capture the Radar Upgrade van and, using it, scan the terrain ahead of Jarmen Kell and the vehicles so they can destroy the Demo Traps on their route.
You must now capture the pumping station. Head north to leave the beach, making sure to clear the area of mines first. You can use these mines to upgrade your vehicles. Kill the two rangers next to the Paladin Tank with Jarmen Kell, then capture it.
Follow the road downhill and kill the pilots of the two mobile Tomahawk launchers as well as the Ambulance. Take control of the launchers, capture the Artillery platform and use it to destroy the Crusaders and the Patriots guarding the bridge. Next, take control of the pumping station to uncover a path. There are a few Soldiers to the north of the eastern island.
Your new mission objective is to destroy an Airfield. Nothing could be simpler here: head back up with Jarmen Kell’s team via the newly discovered path and destroy the US Airport.
Now, the Power Plants! The road is guarded by numerous garrisonable structures. Toxin Tractors are located just below you. Take control of one or two and start clearing out the pillboxes below you. The bridge, which is now accessible, will allow you to take control of three Jeeps, which you can upgrade using the supply crates located right next to them, and take the opportunity to rescue the trapped Soldiers on the left. Then start moving up and rescuing new units who will come to your aid.
With Team No. 2 (the one without Jarmen), head towards the Power Plants and destroy them. The power will be cut, making it much easier to flush out the Soldiers garrisoned in the Pillboxes. A little to the west of the Power Plants, in a car park, there are two Battle Buses. Take them and load all your rocket launchers inside. Head north to the Airport, then east towards the bacteriological centre. Here too, flush out all the soldiers in the pillboxes, and take control of the Artillery platform and the four quads.
The lorries will begin loading the toxins onto the Cargo Plane, but US reinforcements will arrive; however, you shouldn’t have much trouble fending them off. Wait whilst the cargo is being loaded, and the Cargo Plane will take off.
Mission 5: Sneak Attack
As soon as you have taken control of the Chinese base, start by building a GLA Command Hub, then build your base as normal.
US troops will arrive regularly from the east; deploy whatever is needed to stop them, then advance, take control of the Artillery platform and the derrick, and continue on to the US base. Here, do not destroy the buildings; capture them instead. A rebel village will then come to your aid and constantly harass the US troops to the north.
Speaking of the north, this is where the US headquarters is located; it stretches across the entire north-eastern half of the map. Your first task will be to disable the Particle Cannons. A cluster of Power Plants is located in the north, in the centre of the map. Launch a nuclear missile or a Scud attack to cut off the power supply to the entire base. Similarly, most of the airports are situated in the north-east of the map.
There are then two possible approaches: a ground assault or not. If you opt for a ground assault, assemble a strong army of Emperors, along with Gatling tanks and Rocket Buggies, and advance cautiously through the rebel village. Alternatively, build several ultimate weapons, scout the terrain using US radar or a few radar vans, and deploy them at strategic points. Also make full use of rebel Sleeper Ambushes. This method will take the longest, but you should suffer almost no losses – or even none at all – once the US base’s power supply has been cut off and the airports destroyed. Good luck, General.
