“With the transformation of Command & Conquer into an online service, we invite all members of the community to participate in the development process and the future evolution of the game,” explains Jon Van Caneghem, Vice-President and Managing Director of Victory Games. “Since the game was announced, C&C fans have repeatedly called for the inclusion of new story-driven content. We’ve listened to them. We’re now delighted to announce that in 2014, we’ll be offering players high-quality story-driven campaign missions.”
The first missions will focus on the Asia-Pacific Alliance (APA), which will attempt to maintain peace as the world once again threatens to descend into all-out war. The APA, dominated by China, has been the world’s greatest geopolitical power for over a decade. It now faces threats from all sides. The new, fully unified European Union (EU) is demonstrating growing authority, backed by a High Technology arsenal and a resolutely expansionist policy. At the same time, a series of bloody uprisings is sweeping through several satellite nations of the APA and the EU. The resurgence of the World Liberation Army (WLA) is believed to be the cause, but eyewitness accounts suggest the use of technology far too advanced for a mere terrorist organisation. Deeply concerned, the APA orders its elite forces to infiltrate the most dangerous rebel groups, including that of a dictator backed by the EU. Their mission is to uncover the truth about the WLA, thwart the EU’s activities and restore world peace.
By combining the franchise’s classic gameplay with innovative mechanics offering total control over the action, Command & Conquer lays the foundations for a new generation of RTS games. Thanks to a wide range of generals suited to every playstyle, brand-new game modes such as Assault (a co-operative objective-based mode in which Generals must defend their base against hordes of enemies) and the inclusion of story-driven missions, you’ll discover new ways to play, whatever your style or skill level!
Command & Conquer will be available on PC in the second half of 2013 as a free-to-play online service.
