The International Defence Group (GDI)

The International Defence Group, more commonly known as GDI, was a political-military organisation operating under the authority of the UN. Following the destruction of the White House by an Ion Cannon strike carried out by the Brotherhood of Nod, it was blamed for this heinous attack, and the consequences were dire. Condemned and stripped of UN funding, it looked on helplessly as Nod achieved total victory, bringing the First Tiberium War to a close.

Years after the end of the conflict, the GDI was a mere shade of its former self, and those who remained were cornered by a Kane at the height of his power. Despite the darkness surrounding the GDI, a small group led by Andrew Owen (the future Phoenix Regiment) decided to continue the fight with the help of an organisation that had flourished during the First War: GloboTech Corporation. From these ashes, the GDI will rise again and seek revenge on those who humiliated them in the eyes of the world.

Despite funding cuts and the discredit resulting from the White House incident, the GDI remains a force not to be underestimated, as demonstrated by its armaments: with the development of new versions of the highly renowned Orca (fighter, bomber, etc.) , anti-gravity weapon systems and their ever-reliable doctrine of slow but powerful armoured vehicles. Coupled with a thirst for revenge – contrary to what Nod’s propaganda would have us believe – the GDI is not consigned to the history books... And they fully intend to prove it...
