Brotherhod of Nod

The Brotherhood of Nod, often abbreviated to Nod or the Brotherhood, is an organisation that combines the characteristics of a religious movement, a multinational corporation and a nation-state. It has been classified as a terrorist group by the Global Defence Initiative. It was founded by its current leader, Kane, a man as charismatic in his speeches as he is in his presence.

Proclaimed to the whole world (though the faction’s origins are said to be older, according to Nod itself) following the appearance of Tiberium on the banks of the River Tiber in Italy (hence the name, although Kane claims to have discovered the crystal first and named it in honour of Tiberius, the second Roman emperor). Promising a new beginning for the human race thanks to the ‘benefits’ of the green crystal, and taking control of the Yellow Zones-neglected by world governments and the GDI-they brought salvation to the downtrodden. The Brotherhood’s actions did not go down well with the UN, which consequently designated the organisation as a Terrorist group (though, to be fair, blowing up the Vienna Grain Exchange didn’t exactly help their reputation either…). In response, Kane branded the GDI as the real terrorists. Thus began what would come to be known as the First Tiberium War.

Although it had resources and support, it could not match the GDI in terms of brute force. The Brotherhood therefore specialised in the art of warfare involving infiltration, sabotage, guerrilla tactics and rapid assaults, whilst recruiting a considerable number of sympathisers from all corners of the globe. To this end, it employs a variety of vehicles salvaged or modified for military use. Examples include Buggy vehicles, Attack Cycles and Light Tanks for its ‘armoured’ operations. It is therefore easy to underestimate the Brotherhood’s capabilities based on its equipment.… Yet it, too, is developing research programmes in these areas, focusing on the R&D of lethal weapons such as Flame Tanks, and is devising technologies that could rival the GDI in terms of scientific advancement! This is why it possesses the first optical stealth equipment in the form of Stealth Tanks, and also dominates research into laser weapons, as demonstrated by Nod’s infamous base defence: the Obelisk of Light.
