EA UNVEILS Tiberium, WHICH WILL IMMERSE ALL PLAYERS IN AN EPIC WAR FOR ENERGY

LOS ANGELES, California, 18 December 2007 – Tiberium is a mysterious alien crystal that feeds on the energy of traditional fossil fuels. It is powerful enough to save our civilisation… or to destroy it. After two and a half years of development, Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) is delighted to announce Tiberium™, a new intellectual property featuring a rich and original fictional narrative that blends high-octane tactical action with intense first-person shooter gameplay. Set in futuristic environments with spectacular visual effects, Tiberium plunges you into a world ravaged by the green crystal, at the heart of an epic battle for control of this hyper-powerful energy source.

For eleven years, an alien tower has lain dormant in the midst of a desolate land once covered by the Mediterranean Sea. One might think it a remnant of the Third Tiberium War – that destructive conflict in which control of the powerful crystal was at stake. But this tower is not lifeless, nor is it merely a relic. Inside, an alien invasion is looming. This is the starting point of Tiberium. You play as Commander Ricardo Vega and must assemble a force of elite squadrons to combat the looming crisis. On the front line, you have access to an extensive arsenal, including a customisable optimisation system, Seeker missiles, bombardment units and a tactical Ion Cannon.

The blend of first-person shooter action and tactical team-based combat makes Tiberium an intense experience, where every mission is even more thrilling than the last. It adds depth to the FPS genre thanks to its new strategic dimension. You’ll command infantry teams, armoured units or air squadrons, whilst the fighting intensifies with every passing second. In Tiberium, Vega is the central figure on the battlefield, and her squadrons are her most formidable weapon. Take control of several of them in single-player mode or join fierce online multiplayer battles.

“Tiberium is our ‘One Ring’, our ‘Force’. This crystal is the element that defines and unites this entire universe, and leads it to its downfall,” explains Chris Plummer, executive producer at EA Los Angeles. “After two and a half years of pre-production, we’re delighted to finally be able to unveil this rich game. We’ve worked tirelessly to optimise the FPS experience in this game, particularly by incorporating key tactical elements such as command, choice and dominance over the enemy, whilst adapting them to the first-person perspective. Some of the weapons and vehicles are truly innovative in the world of first-person shooters. We’re very proud to be part of this project, which has everything it takes to become a benchmark in science-fiction action gaming. ”

According to Mike Verdu, Vice-President and General Manager of EA Los Angeles, “EALA has long been associated with the development of the Command & Conquer series, which revolutionised real-time strategy gaming. It was this series that paved the way for Tiberium amongst players worldwide. Today, Tiberium is based not just on a single storyline but on an entire universe, and features a unique hybrid gameplay style that combines shooter elements with team-based strategy. We are witnessing the birth of a new franchise, so we are very excited. ”

Developed by EA Los Angeles, Tiberium will be released worldwide in autumn 2008 on the PLAYSTATION®3 interactive entertainment system, the Xbox 360™ games and entertainment console, and on PC. The game has not yet received a PEGI rating. To find out more about Tiberium, visit: www.Tiberium.com (website in English).
