Allied Forces

Allied Forces

C&C: Yuri's Revenge

Units

GI

The GI is the basic unit of the Allied infantry. Although slow and not particularly destructive, the GI is nevertheless indispensable due to its low cost and its ability to surround itself with protective sandbags. Left-clicking on a selected GI causes him to deploy into a firing position, giving him a submachine gun with increased range and firepower, but he is unable to move. Left-clicking again causes the GI to fold up.

Guardian GI

Just like the standard GI, the Guardian GI fires a powerful machine gun whilst standing. When deployed, the Guardian GI cannot be run over and uses a powerful anti-tank weapon that is highly effective against vehicles and aircraft. Guardians GI cannot be assigned to garrisonable structures.

Engineer

Although he is unarmed, the Engineer is an extremely useful unit. Careful use of teams of Engineers can completely change the outcome of a battle. Bear in mind that if you use an Engineer, you lose him. Engineers are used to repair destroyed bridges (you must enter the repair room), capture enemy structures, repair your own, and repair and capture neutral technical buildings. Engineers can also defuse Crazy Ivan’s bombs by targeting the unit or structure that has been mined.

Rocketeer

The Rocketeer is the aerial version of the GI. He is equipped with a powerful weapon and strapped into a harness that allows him to fly over the battlefield. He is ideal for anti-aircraft defence and for air-to-ground attacks on lightly armed targets.

Spy

The spy is the Shadow Team used by the Allied Forces to gain the upper hand over their enemies. Instead of attacking enemy units, the Spy focuses on an enemy unit and transforms to resemble it. In this way, he can infiltrate enemy structures without being detected, and the benefits of the operation can be substantial. The Spy’s activities once inside an enemy structure depend on the structure in question. Attack dogs are never fooled by the Spy’s disguises, so you must be wary of them.

Attack Dog

Attack dogs are specially trained German Shepherds; they are extremely effective against infantry, but completely useless against vehicles and structures. Furthermore, they are your only defence against spies. It may be useful to have an attack dog constantly guarding your base.

British Sniper

This British infantry unit is equipped with a special long-range rifle, which is extremely useful for taking out infantry units. Far superior to standard GIs, Snipers have incredible range and firepower, and are capable of eliminating infantry units with a single shot from a great distance.

Navy SEAL

Equipped with an extremely powerful machine gun, the Navy SEALS are a formidable force against enemy infantry and can also defend themselves against vehicles. Just like Tanya, the Navy SEALS use C4 charges to blow up enemy structures.

Chrono Legionnaire

A Chrono Legionnaire never moves on foot. Instead, he teleports across the map. The distance he teleports determines the time it takes to reach a given location. Whilst moving, the Chrono Legionnaire is vulnerable to enemy fire. His weapon is unique, as instead of destroying enemy units or structures, he simply sends them out of time. The more powerful the enemy, the longer the process takes. During this process, the enemy unit is invulnerable. If the Chrono Legionnaire is killed whilst carrying out the operation, that partially erased unit reappears.

Tanya

Tanya is the most versatile infantry unit in the Allied Forces. Almost as fast as a GI, Tanya is also an excellent swimmer and can cross rivers and oceans. Tanya’s weapons can take out enemy infantry units in a single shot. Tanya is also highly skilled at planting C4 charges in buildings, ships or vehicles, destroying them instantly. Bridges can also be destroyed in this way; simply place the C4 charge in the repair room.

VCM Allied Forces

As you will see in the section on Allied Forces buildings, the Construction Yard forms the heart of your base. Very often, you do not start with this structure but with a VCM, or mobile construction vehicle. When deployed, this vehicle transforms into a Construction Yard, giving you all the benefits of this building.

Chrono Miner

At the heart of your economy lies the Chrono Miner, a small vehicle that collects ore and transports it back to the Tiberium Refinery. This ore is then converted into money, allowing you to produce units and structures to increase your power. When travelling to a deposit, the Chrono Miner moves like a normal vehicle, but once it has loaded up with ore, it returns to the Tiberium Refinery in the same way as the Chrono Legionnaire and teleports across the map. This saves a huge amount of time.

Grizzly Tank

The Grizzly Tank is the standard tank of the Allied Forces. It can be very useful for base assaults, but it is also capable of crushing enemy infantry units. This all-rounder can be used for both defence and attack.

Infantry Fighting Vehicle/IFV

This is an incredibly versatile vehicle capable of adapting its weaponry to suit the type of infantry on board. If, for example, you put an Engineer in it, it transforms into a repair vehicle capable of repairing damaged vehicles without the need to bring them back to base; if you put a GI in it, the vehicle is more effective at attacking infantry, and so on. (By default, you have a rocket launcher.)

GEM tank

The main advantage of the GEM tank is that Yuri cannot take control of it, as it has no human Conductor. GEM tanks are fitted with Hovercraft equipment, which enables them to cross bodies of water. You can create GEM tanks as soon as you have built a GEM control centre. They cease to function if their energy supply is cut off or becomes very low.

Mirage Tank

The Mirage Tank bears a striking resemblance to the Grizzly Tank. It does, however, have one unique feature: it can camouflage itself to look like a tree. Once camouflaged, it can fire on enemy units, making it very difficult to pinpoint the source of the fire. It does, however, appear briefly whilst firing. If used wisely (for example, if you position it in or near a forest), the Mirage Tank can launch Desolator surprise attacks.

Prism Tank

This extremely powerful tank is equipped with a weapon similar to that of the Prism Tower. Its powerful and deadly beam of light ricochets from the target onto nearby enemies, meaning this vehicle is perfectly capable of destroying groups of enemy units all on its own. The range of the ricochet effect depends on how close the Prism Tank is to its target.

Battle Fortress

This massive structure ploughs across the battlefield, crushing infantry, vehicles (even tanks) and walls with disconcerting ease. You can place up to five infantry units inside a Battle Fortress. These infantry units can, of course, fire from the machine’s numerous gun ports, adding to its destructive power.

German Tank Destroyer

German researchers have developed this unit, which is specifically designed to withstand enemy armoured vehicles. Although they are very weak against structures or infantry, Tank Destroyers are, on the other hand, extremely powerful against enemy vehicles and can be used to clear a path for your attacks or to block enemy armoured columns.

Amphibious Transport

The Allied Forces’ Amphibious Transport enables units to be moved. Unlike the Nighthawk Transport, it remains detectable by radar, but can carry both vehicles and infantry. It can travel on land and water, and enables amphibious attacks to be launched on enemy positions. This vehicle is unarmed.

Dolphin

The dolphins form a very important naval unit for the Allied Forces. Camouflaged and undetectable by enemy radar, the dolphins attack using a sonar amplifier. They are particularly effective against Soviet naval units, especially Giant Squids and Submarines.

Destroyer

The Allied Forces’ basic naval unit is the Destroyer, which is designed to defend itself automatically against submarine attacks. It can be used to bombard enemy coastlines and installations, thereby facilitating invasions.

Aegis Cruiser

Another important vessel in the Allied Forces, the Aegis Cruiser is used for defence against air attacks. In addition to conventional anti-aircraft defences, the Aegis Cruiser is also equipped with anti-missile defences that protect vital installations against such attacks.

Aircraft Carrier

As you may have guessed, the Aircraft Carrier is a large ship whose attacks involve sending its aircraft to strike enemy targets. The aircraft land, refuel and continue their attacks until their target is completely destroyed. Better still, any aircraft lost by the Aircraft Carrier is automatically replaced free of charge.

Nighthawk Transport

This powerful Transport Helicopter is used to move units quickly and efficiently across the map, regardless of the terrain. It is completely invisible to enemy radar, which further enhances its effectiveness when used as a shuttle to transport units, but it is vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire.

Harrier or War Harrier

This jet is used for ground attacks against enemy positions. Whilst it is very useful for harassing enemy structures or columns of units, this aircraft is vulnerable to Soviet anti-aircraft fire.

Korean Black Eagle

The special weapon in the Korean arsenal is the Black Eagle. This aircraft is, in fact, a more powerful Harrier, capable of withstanding heavy damage and inflicting just as much.

Buildings

Construction Yard

The Construction Yard is the heart of any base. This structure is the starting point for the creation of all other buildings, from simple walls to sophisticated Battle Labs. As your ability to expand your base and acquire new technologies depends on this building, any wise Commander must protect it at all costs and at all times. Many missions start with a Construction Yard already in place, whilst others begin with a VCM that you will need to deploy in order to start building.

Power Plant

Some of your buildings, such as the Construction Yard, generate their own energy, but this is not the case for most of them. In order to keep them operational and optimise their performance, you need to supply them with energy, and that is the purpose of this structure. Power plants provide a good amount of energy, but larger bases will need several power plants to function properly. Power plants are highly vulnerable but of great importance, so they must be closely monitored.

Barracks

All infantry units, whether they are basic GIs or sophisticated Chrono Legionnaires, are created in Allied barracks. Many other powerful and effective structures, as well as the base’s defences, require a barracks to be present.

Tiberium Refinery

Your Chrono Miners must deliver the ore they have gathered to the Tiberium Refinery. Furthermore, this is a vital structure for your economy. Once a Chrono Miner is fully loaded, it returns to the Tiberium Refinery to unload the ore before heading back to the ore deposit. This ore is then converted into resources, which you can use to purchase structures and units. Every Tiberium Refinery has a Harvester. This structure is essential for every mission; you may even need several of them at times. The more Harvesters and Tiberium Refineries you have, the more money you’ll earn.

Walls

Walls are passive defences designed to halt the advance of infantry and vehicles. Numerous sections of wall can be deployed at once, enabling rapid construction.

Pilllbox

Pilllboxes are fortified firing emplacements designed to protect an area from enemy infantry attacks. They are of little use against vehicles, and it is not possible to fire through the walls.

Patriot Missile

The Patriot Missile System is, in fact, an anti-aircraft system designed to protect allied airbases from Soviet aircraft. It is effective against all aerial units, including enemy missiles, which it destroys.

Weapons Factory

If you want to build vehicles – and you certainly will – you’ll need a Weapons Factory. All land vehicles are manufactured in the Weapons Factory, but some of them require additional buildings for their production.

Naval Yard

The navy plays a very important role in protecting your base and attacking enemy positions. All your naval units, including dolphins, are produced in your Naval Yard. This structure must be placed entirely in the water. Damaged ships can return to the Naval Yard to be repaired.

Airforce Command HQ

Airforce Command HQ fulfils two important roles. Firstly, it houses a radar which, when activated, reveals the obscured sectors that you have removed from the radar map. Secondly, this structure enables the production of aircraft. Each Airforce Command HQ can control up to four Harriers. To acquire further aircraft, you need a new Airforce Command HQ.

GEM Control Centre

The GEM Control Centre allows the Allies to build GEM tanks. This building cannot be constructed until an Allied Weapons Factory has been produced and installed. It ceases to function if it receives no power or very little power.

Service Depot

During combat, your units will sustain damage. If you take a damaged vehicle to the Service Depot, it will be repaired. Repairs are not free, and the cost depends on the severity of the damage sustained.

Battle Lab

Many Allied units, as well as the defences, rely on advanced technologies provided exclusively by the Battle Lab. To produce the Allied Forces’ special weapons, it is essential to have a Battle Lab in your base. They are very expensive to build and require a large amount of energy, but the units and structures they provide make them an indispensable addition to any Allied base.

Basic Gap Generator

A large part of the Allied Forces’ strategy relies on gathering useful intelligence whilst preventing the Soviets from accessing it. When the Gap Generator is deployed, it creates a protective shield over a wide area and conceals the Allied base so that Soviet radars can no longer detect it. However, this system requires an enormous amount of energy to operate.

Prism Tower

The Prism Tower is a very powerful defence for the Allied Forces. It fires a highly concentrated beam of light at approaching enemy ground units. If you place the Prism Towers close enough to one another, they can fire a single beam by linking up with each other to combine their firepower on a single target.

Spy Satellite receiver

The Allied Forces are in desperate need of intelligence to defeat the Soviets. Once built and deployed, the Spy Satellite receiver completely lifts the veil to reveal everything on the battlefield and on the Radar screen.

Chronosphere

Allied Forces’ research into time travel has resulted in the invention of the Chronosphere, a device that allows units to move instantly from one point on the map to another. The Chronosphere even allows vehicles to travel over long distances. Enemy vehicles can also be transported using it. Enemy ships can be brought ashore, whilst enemy vehicles can be thrown into the water, causing their immediate destruction.

Weather Control Device

The Weather Control Device enables the Commander of the Allied Forces to control the forces of nature. Once activated, this system is capable of generating powerful Lightning Storms that can be directed to any point on the map, destroying everything in their path. These Lightning Storms destroy buildings and units across a wide area.

Ore purifier

The Allied Forces have succeeded in developing an Ore Purifier to refine the ore even further. It is an expensive piece of equipment, but it generates even more revenue for every load of ore delivered to the Tiberium Refinery. Over time, the cost of the Ore Purifier is recouped many times over.

A really gorgeous French girl

This special French weapon is not a vehicle but a large structure known as the ‘Grand Cannon’. This cannon provides an extremely effective defence against enemy attacks, particularly against armoured units.

Superweapons

Airborne troops

In multiplayer mode, the US Army can produce and deploy paradrop units as soon as the Airforce Command HQ has been built. Paradrop units can be sent anywhere on the map except over water.

Force Shield

The Force Shield renders buildings and vehicles in the selected area invisible for a short time; however, it causes a power cut immediately afterwards...

Chronoshift

Allied Forces’ research into time travel has resulted in the invention of the Chronosphere, a device that allows units to move instantly from one point on the map to another. The Chronosphere even allows vehicles to travel over long distances. Enemy vehicles can also be transported using it. Enemy ships can be brought ashore, whilst enemy vehicles can be thrown into the water, causing their immediate destruction.

Lightning Storm

The Weather Control Device enables the Commander of the Allied Forces to control the forces of nature. Once activated, this system is capable of generating powerful Lightning Storms that can be directed to any point on the map, destroying everything in their path. These Lightning Storms destroy buildings and units across a wide area.
