GLA

C&C: Generals

Units

Worker

The Worker is the GLA’s standard construction unit, responsible for building and repairing structures. The Worker is capable of defusing booby-trapped structures (whether booby-trapped with a bomb or a mine). Although inexpensive, the Worker is defenceless against enemy attacks.

Rebel

Lacking any proper training or equipment, the GLA rebel can rely only on his sheer willpower. This standard infantry unit is armed with nothing more than a simple rifle. Rebels can benefit from the following upgrades: Armor-Piercing Bullets, available on the Black Market; Camouflage, available at the Palace; and Seize Building, available at the Barracks.

Rocket Soldier

The rocket launcher is the GLA’s standard unit for dealing with armoured vehicles. The ‘Armor-Piercing Rockets’ upgrade, available on the Black Market, increases its firepower. When taking cover inside buildings, rocket launchers are incredibly effective and can hold their own against lightning-fast raids by enemy tanks.

Terrorist

There is little that can be done to counter a terrorist. This low-cost unit straps on several kilograms of C4 before charging at the enemy unit or building to blow itself up. Terrorists can seize a vehicle to carry out even faster and deadlier attacks.

Hijacker

These daring criminals have been recruited by the GLA to seize enemy vehicles. Whilst waiting for an opportunity to strike, the Hijackers blend into the crowd. But when they decide to strike, they don’t hesitate to pounce on the vehicle to kill its occupant and take the wheel. Hijackers cannot capture Elite or Heroic-tier units.

Jarmen Kell

This mercenary is a sniper well-versed in the most advanced stealth tactics. He always operates alone and is capable of taking over buildings without being detected by enemy units. His extreme accuracy with a Sniper Rifle enables him to take out pilots whilst they are still inside their vehicles. When a pilot is killed, the vehicle can be captured by GLA infantry.

Angry Mob

The GLA can incite a group of rioters to attack enemy positions. Initially, a group of rioters consists of five individuals; it grows in number thereafter. GLA generals can supply the rioters with AK-47s and order them to use a firebomb against a building or a unit. The group of rioters can benefit from the ‘Arm the Mob’ upgrade, available at the Palace.

Mobile Sensor Array

The Mobile Sensor Array enables the GLA to track enemy movements in real time. This unit can be concealed or moved as the situation develops. The Radar Scan upgrade, available on the Black Market, temporarily reveals all enemy positions.

Jeep

The jeep is a machine gun mounted on the back of a lorry, effective against enemy infantry and light vehicles. When an enemy vehicle is destroyed, the jeep can salvage parts from its wreckage to upgrade its gun and ammunition. Infantry can board a jeep to use it as a makeshift troop carrier. The jeep can be upgraded with the Armor-Piercing Bullets upgrade, available on the Black Market.

Scorpion

These older models of light tanks are key units for carrying out the guerrilla tactics that characterise the GLA’s forces. However, the Scorpion Tank’s speed cannot make up for its poor armour, which makes this unit a prime target for heavy weapons. The Scorpion can be upgraded with the Missile Launcher upgrade, available from the Arms Dealer, and the Toxin Shells upgrade, available at the Palace.

Rocket Buggy

This light vehicle carries a long-range rocket launcher and can navigate all types of terrain. When it launches an attack, the Rocket Buggy fires its entire supply of ammunition: it must then wait a certain amount of time to reload. It is therefore advisable to move away quickly after an attack. The Rocket Buggy can be upgraded with Armor-Piercing Rockets and Ammunition upgrades, available on the Black Market.

Toxin Tractor

The Toxin Tractor disperses a virulent agent contained in its tanks. This poison contaminates the ground for a certain period of time, causing illness or even immediate death amongst infantry units that venture onto this terrain. When stationary, the tractor can continuously contaminate an area, providing a significant defence against enemy infantry. The Toxin Tractor is particularly effective at flushing out units hiding in buildings. It can benefit from the Anthrax Beta upgrade, available at the Palace.

Bomb Truck

Disguised as an enemy vehicle, the Bomb Truck takes the enemy by surprise, inflicting considerable damage. The fanatical driver steers the lorry towards an enemy unit or building and does not hesitate for a single moment before detonating the bomb on board. This unit can be upgraded to increase the force of the explosion or add BioBombs.

Quad

These Soviet-era vehicles are available from the Arms Dealer. They are useful for protecting against air attacks. Fitted with four heavy machine guns, the Quad can engage both ground and air targets. When an enemy vehicle is destroyed, the Quad can salvage parts from its wreckage to upgrade its hardpoints. The Quad can benefit from the Armor-Piercing Bullets upgrade, available on the Black Market.

Scud Launcher

This ground-to-ground missile system, dating from the Soviet era, is highly effective against enemy vessels. The Scud Launcher can fire two types of projectile: an explosive shell or an Anthrax Bomb that contaminates the impact zone. The Scud Launcher can be upgraded with the Anthrax Beta upgrade, available at the Palace.

Marauder Tank

These tanks have superior defensive capabilities and a longer firing range than the Scorpion Tank. They are available from the Arms Dealer. When an enemy vehicle is destroyed, the Marauder Tank can salvage parts from its wreckage to upgrade its guns. You must reach the rank of 1-star General to be able to produce Marauder Tanks. The Toxin Shells upgrade is available at the Palace.

Buildings

Command Center

GLA workers are recruited and trained at the Command Center. Once unlocked, the Sleeper Ambush, Anthrax Bomb and Emergency Repairs upgrades are available at the Command Center.

Supply Stash

The GLA uses one or more Supply Stashes to store its resources. Once built, the Supply Stash is manned by a Worker, who immediately begins harvesting.

Barracks

The Barracks produces all of the GLA’s infantry units, namely rebels, Terrorists, rioters, Scorpion Rockets and Jarmen Kell. The ‘Capture Building’ upgrade is available at the Barracks.

Arms Dealer

This is where the GLA sources its vehicles. The local Arms Dealer offers a wide selection of weapons from all over the world. The ‘Scorpion Rocket’ upgrade is available from the Arms Dealer.

Stinger website

To protect its base from aerial bombardment, the GLA can equip its soldiers with Stinger missile launchers. Sheltered behind a barrier of sandbags, three soldiers can deal with any aerial threat. When one of the soldiers is killed, his comrades continue to fight until reinforcements arrive. The Stinger can also target ground targets. The Stinger Site can be upgraded with the Armor-Piercing Rockets upgrade, available on the Black Market.

Tunnel Network

The Tunnel Network allows GLA fighters to reach the enemy camp in a very short time. You can dig numerous tunnels, each capable of holding up to ten units at a time. Each unit can be directed towards a specific exit. Occupied by two rocket launchers and an Artillery Turret.

Demo Trap

When skilfully positioned, these concealed bombs can serve as an excellent chokepoint or effectively secure a perimeter. Demo Traps have two modes of operation: proximity or manual activation.

Palace

This is where the GLA’s best-kept secrets lie: significant upgrades are available here for weapons, defences and bacteriological research. Up to five GLA troops can be garrisoned here. The enemy cannot capture the Palace. The Camouflage, Anthrax Beta, Arm the Mob and Toxin Shells upgrades are available here.

Black Market

The GLA is an expert in the art of utilising parallel distribution networks around the world. Thanks to the Black Market, the GLA is able to acquire ammunition and technologies that are difficult to obtain. Furthermore, through its activities on the market, the GLA earns a salary that, whilst modest, is certainly welcome. The following upgrades are available on the Black Market: Armor-Piercing Bullets, Junk Repair, Radar Scan, Armor-Piercing Rockets and Rocket Buggy Ammo.

Scud Storm

Faced with a serious threat, the GLA has no choice but to deploy its Scud Storm. The nine Scuds in this formidable weapon all contain a biochemical agent capable of injuring or killing Soldiers on impact. The Scud Storm can benefit from the Betaanthrax upgrade, available at the Palace.

Upgrades

Booby Trap (Barracks)

This upgrade enables rebel units to place invisible explosive charges on any building. Enemy combatants who attempt to seize one of these buildings will then trigger the explosion.

Scorpion Rocket (Arms Dealer)

The Scorpion Rocket adds a side-mounted rocket to the Scorpion. A cooldown period is required to reload.

Camouflage (Palace)

Camouflage enables the rebels to remain hidden as long as they do not attack.

Anthrax Beta (Palace)

This upgrade increases the damage dealt by units using biological weapons by 25 per cent.

Arm the Mob (Palace)

The ‘Arm the Mob’ upgrade enables you to supply AK-47s to the mob.

Toxin Shells (Palace)

Toxin Shells enhance the shells fired by Marauder Tanks and Scorpion Tanks by adding a small dose of anthrax. The anthrax contaminates the impact area for a short time.

Armor-Piercing Bullets (Black Market)

The ‘Armor-Piercing Bullets’ upgrade increases the firepower of the rebels, jeeps, quads and Jarmen Kell by 25 per cent.

Junk Repair (Black Market)

Junk Repair enables all GLA vehicles to repair themselves automatically.

Radar Scan (Black Market)

The Radar Scan enables Mobile Sensor Arrays to detect camouflaged units. It also reveals a targeted area on the map. Its effects are time-limited and require a cooldown period.

Armor-Piercing Rockets (Black Market)

Armor-Piercing Rockets increase the firepower of units using Rocket Pods by 25.

Rocket Buggy Ammo (Black Market)

The Rocket Buggy Ammo increases the number of rockets fired in a single salvo by the Rocket Buggy by 25 per cent.
