The International Defence Group (GDI)

The International Defence Group, or GDI, is an organisation that has become largely independent of the UN, given the state of the planet in 2030, which remains ravaged by Tiberium. The situation is such that several nations, already weakened by the arrival of Tiberium on Earth and the ensuing First Tiberium War, have been brought to their knees, with entire states coming under the authority of the GDI. Since then, the GDI has dedicated itself to a single overarching goal: to rid the Earth of the green crystal and reclaim the once-prosperous world. All these operations are conducted from the pinnacle of orbital space technology: the GDSS Philadelphia.

With the destruction of the Brotherhood’s temple in Sarajevo, a period of relative peace ensued, allowing the GDI to focus on Tiberium… However, in the shadows, Kane was plotting and would return from the dead during what would come to be known as the Second Tiberium War.
